Job summary

Cisly Technologies Sdn Bhd in Penang is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering team. You will design mechanical components, prepare technical drawings, and support prototype development, testing, and validation to ensure on-time delivery and quality.

You will collaborate with customers, suppliers, and production teams, maintain engineering documentation, and help drive manufacturability improvements and cost-conscious design.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; diploma holders with strong experience may be considered.
  • Strong foundation in mechanical engineering, machine design and problem-solving.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks and CAD for 3D modelling and drawings.
  • Ability to read and prepare mechanical drawings with tolerances.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and materials selection.
  • Project coordination: organize tasks and monitor milestones.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication; detail-oriented and safety conscious.

Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical components and assemblies; create 3D models and 2D drawings.

  • Customer Requirement & Design Development: Communicate with customers and project stakeholders to understand application needs, specifications, constraints and expected outcomes. Translate requirements into design concepts and practical engineering solutions.
  • Mechanical Design & CAD Modelling: Create and revise 3D models, assemblies and 2D engineering drawings using SolidWorks and other CAD tools as required. Design components and systems with consideration for functionality, manufacturability, assembly, maintainability, material selection and cost-effectiveness.
  • BOM Management & Engineering Change Control: Prepare, monitor, maintain and update Bills of Materials (BOMs) to ensure part numbers, descriptions, quantities, materials and revisions are accurate. Coordinate design or component changes with purchasing, project, production and other relevant teams.
  • Engineering Analysis & Calculations: Perform appropriate engineering calculations and technical evaluations to support design decisions, verify performance and identify potential design risks or improvement opportunities.
  • Prototyping, Testing & Validation: Support prototype development, assembly and testing. Conduct or coordinate functional checks, collect test data, analyze results and recommend modifications to improve performance, reliability and usability.
  • Manufacturing & Production Support: Work with production, suppliers and technicians to resolve fabrication or assembly issues, improve manufacturability and support efficient and cost-effective production methods. Assist with work instructions, process improvements and quality-related technical matters.
  • Technical Documentation: Prepare and maintain engineering specifications, drawings, design records, technical reports, test records, work instructions, user documentation and other project-related engineering documents.
  • Project Coordination & Progress Monitoring: Support project planning and execution by tracking engineering tasks, design status, outstanding actions, material readiness and key project milestones. Provide progress updates and coordinate technical activities to support on-time completion.
  • Research & Development / Continuous Improvement: Support R&D and improvement activities by evaluating new materials, technologies, components and design methods. Stay informed of relevant industry developments and assess practical opportunities for product or process improvement.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with project management, purchasing, production, quality, suppliers, technicians and other engineers to solve technical issues and ensure smooth project execution.
  • Safety, Quality & Compliance: Ensure designs and engineering activities follow applicable safety practices, quality requirements, internal procedures and relevant technical or industry standards. Promote a safe working environment during design, testing, assembly and site activities.

Qualifications & Candidate Profile:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline; diploma holders with strong relevant technical experience may be considered.
  • Strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles, machine design and practical problem-solving.
  • Proficiency or working knowledge of SolidWorks and CAD for 3D modelling, assemblies and 2D technical drawings.
  • Ability to read, interpret and prepare mechanical drawings, dimensions, tolerances and technical specifications.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes, materials selection, machining, fabrication and assembly methods is advantageous.
  • Basic understanding of BOM structures, part control, engineering revisions and technical documentation.
  • Project coordination skills with the ability to organize tasks, monitor progress and work toward project milestones and deadlines.
  • Good analytical skills for evaluating test results, technical issues and design alternatives.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills for customer discussions and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
