Job summary

SOME Cakery in Kuala Lumpur's Taman OUG is seeking a Cake Baker to join our team in a full-time role. You will create beautifully crafted cakes that meet our high standards of quality, taste and presentation.

Responsibilities include preparing bases and fillings, assembling cakes, frosting and finishing to our presentation standards, while maintaining a clean, hygienic work area. Salary is RM2,000–RM2,500 per month.

Qualifications

• Previous cake baking or pastry production experience is preferred but not required.
• Ability to follow recipes and maintain consistent quality.
• Strong attention to detail and teamwork.

• Prepare chiffon cake bases according to established recipes and production standards.
• Prepare cake components including curds, fillings, ganache, feuilletine, creams and other ingredients required for daily production.
• Weigh and portion ingredients accurately to ensure consistency across all products.
• Assemble cakes with the correct layers, fillings and components according to product specifications.
• Frost and finish cakes neatly and consistently to meet the bakery’s presentation standards.
• Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic work area in accordance with food safety requirements.
• Follow daily production schedules to ensure orders are completed on time.

About the role

SOME Cakery is seeking a talented and passionate Cake Baker to join our team in Taman OUG, Kuala Lumpur. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in delivering the exceptional baked goods that define our brand. As a Cake Baker, you will be responsible for creating beautifully crafted cakes that meet our high standards of quality, taste and presentation. This role is essential to our operations, ensuring that every customer receives the finest products whilst maintaining consistency across our product range.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare chiffon cake bases according to established recipes and production standards
• Prepare cake components including curds, fillings, ganache, feuilletine, creams and other ingredients required for daily production
• Weigh and portion ingredients accurately to ensure consistency across all products
• Assemble cakes with the correct layers, fillings and components according to product specifications
• Frost and finish cakes neatly and consistently to meet the bakery’s presentation standards
• Ensure cakes meet the required standards for texture, flavour, appearance and portion size
• Follow daily production schedules to ensure orders are completed on time
• Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic work area in accordance with food safety requirements
• Monitor ingredient and stock levels and inform the team when replenishment is required
• Minimise wastage and handle ingredients efficiently during preparation and production
• Work closely with the team to meet daily production and delivery deadlines
• Assist with testing new flavours, fillings and cake combinations when required

What we’re looking for

• Previous experience in cake baking or pastry production is preferred, but not required
• Interest in cake baking, assembly and frosting, with a willingness to learn
• Able to follow recipes and instructions accurately
• Good attention to detail and presentation
• Able to work efficiently and manage daily production tasks
• Responsible, organised and able to work well as part of a team
• Willing to work weekends or shifts when required
