Job summary

Black & White Kitchen Cake Boutique in Bandar Baru Bangi, Selangor, seeks an experienced Head Baker to lead daily production of custom cakes, pastries, and signature baked goods, while maintaining high quality and presentation.

You will supervise kitchen staff, develop new cake designs, manage costing and wastage, ensure halal and MPKJ hygiene compliance, and source ingredients to prevent stockouts. Fluency in Bahasa Malaysia and English preferred.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of professional baking experience with 1–2 years in a senior/supervisory role.
• Advanced skills in sponge baking, buttercream techniques, fondant assembly, piping, and structural cake layering.
• Certificate or Diploma in Culinary/Pastry Arts or equivalent professional experience.
• Working proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia and English.

Black & White Kitchen Cake Boutique is seeking an experienced, creative, and detail-oriented Head Baker to lead kitchen operations, custom cake production, and product quality at our boutique in Bandar Baru Bangi. This role requires a strong background in artisanal cake design, batch production management, kitchen leadership, and strict adherence to hygiene standards.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Cake Artistry: Lead daily production of custom cakes, pastries, and signature baked goods, ensuring consistency in taste, texture, and visual presentation.

Team Supervision & Workflow: Manage kitchen staff and junior bakers, assign daily baking schedules, and train personnel in decoration and assembly techniques.

Menu Development & Costing: Collaborate on seasonal offerings, refine existing recipes for scale, and monitor raw material wastage to control food costs.

Inventory & Sourcing: Oversee stock counts for high-grade baking ingredients, manage supplier orders, and ensure zero stockouts on core items.

Hygiene & Halal Compliance: Maintain food safety, sanitation, and kitchen safety protocols in compliance with local council (MPKJ) and Halal standards.

Requirements & Qualifications

Minimum 3 to 5 years of professional baking experience, with at least 1–2 years in a senior or supervisory role within a bakery, café, or cake studio.

Advanced skills in sponge baking, buttercream techniques, fondant assembly, piping, and structural cake layering.

Certificate or Diploma in Culinary/Pastry Arts or equivalent professional experience.

Working proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia and English.

Punctuality, leadership under tight delivery deadlines, and strong organizational skills.

Salary: RM 3,500 – RM 5,000 / month (commensurate with portfolio and leadership experience).
