Job summary

ISM Insurance Services Malaysia Berhad seeks an IT System Administrator/System Engineer to manage the organization’s IT infrastructure and deliver user support for company systems. You will ensure best practices in IT management to maximize efficiency and reliability.

Responsibilities include provisioning, configuring and maintaining Windows Server and Linux systems, VMware virtualization, Veeam backups, diagnosing issues, and documenting resolutions.

Qualifications

• Degree in Information Technology or equivalent.
• Entry-level IT/Computer specialization welcomed.
• Knowledge of Windows and Linux server OS.
• Knowledge of server hardening and reliable operation.
• Good communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Install/configure/test/operate and maintain system hardware/OS/infrastructure (Windows Server 2019, Red Hat, VMware, Veeam).
• Diagnose and resolve hardware and OS issues for servers, switches, printers, desktops and laptops.
• Identify urgent situations and coordinate with System & Network Manager and Head of IT.
• Track and route problems and document resolutions.
• Prepare activity reports and stay current with system updates.
• Keep up to date with technologies and assess new solutions for business needs.

The IT System Administrator/System Engineer will be responsible to ensure best practice in Information Technology management of the organization in order to maximize efficiency and to attend user support and customer service on company supported computer applications and platforms, troubleshoot problems and advise on the appropriate action.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the above role shall include:

• Responsible for installation/configuration/testing/operation and maintenance of system hardware/operating system/infrastructure for Microsoft Windows Server 2019, Red hat, VMware, Veeam Backup, etc;
• Diagnose and resolve technical hardware and system operating issues for servers, switches, printers, desktop and laptop;
• identify and escalat[e] situations requiring urgent attention and work closing with System & Network Manager and Head of Information Technology;
• Track and route problems and requests and document resolutions;
• Prepare activity reports;
• Stay current with system information, changes and updates;
• Keep current with the latest technologies and determine what new technology solutions and implementations will meet business and system requirements.

Requirements

The skills and abilities required of the candidate are:

• Candidates must possess at least a Degree in Information Technology or equivalent field;
• Preferably entry level specialized in IT/Computer – Operating system or equivalent;
• Knowledge in Windows or Linux server operating systems;
• Knowledge in configuration, hardening and reliable operation of server;
• Good communication skills to work effectively with peers;
• An organized, detail oriented and able to manage multiple tasks/deadlines;
