About the role
We are seeking a Halal Executive to join our team in Johor Bahru, Johor on a full-time basis. This is a strategic role within our halal governance division, where you will play a vital part in ensuring compliance with halal standards and regulations. As a Halal Executive, you will be instrumental in maintaining the credibility and effectiveness of halal certification processes, working closely with local government bodies, businesses and stakeholders to promote and uphold halal principles. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on halal standards within the region.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct halal audits and inspections of food production facilities, restaurants and retail outlets to ensure compliance with halal standards and regulations
- Review and assess halal certification applications from businesses seeking to obtain or renew their halal credentials
- Develop and maintain detailed audit reports and documentation related to halal compliance activities
- Liaise with local government departments, industry stakeholders and certification bodies to coordinate halal governance initiatives
- Provide guidance and advisory support to businesses on halal requirements, best practices and regulatory obligations
- Investigate complaints and concerns raised by consumers or businesses regarding halal standards and certification
- Participate in halal awareness campaigns and community education programmes
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of halal legislation, industry developments and international halal standards
- Assist in the development and implementation of halal policies and procedures
What we're looking for
- Recognised qualification in Islamic Studies, Halal Management, Food Science, Quality Assurance or a related discipline
- Formal halal certification or auditor training from an accredited body (essential)
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in halal certification, food safety auditing or a closely related compliance role
- Strong knowledge of halal principles, Islamic dietary laws and Malaysian halal standards and regulations
- Experience in conducting audits and inspections within food manufacturing, hospitality or retail environments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Malay and English
- Proficiency in using audit software and office management systems
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce comprehensive and accurate documentation
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- A professional approach with strong ethical standards and commitment to halal integrity
- Willingness to travel within Johor for audit and inspection activities
- Knowledge of food safety systems such as HACCP or ISO certifications is advantageous
