Job summary

MAKINO MACHINE TOOLS (MALAYSIA) SDN. BHD. is seeking a proactive Field Service Engineer to service Makino machines in Malaysia. You will diagnose failures, perform root-cause analysis and coordinate with headquarter service to deliver timely resolutions.

The role requires a diploma or degree in engineering, minimum 5 years in machine servicing, and the ability to travel interstate. Strong communication and customer-facing skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronics Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in machine servicing, maintenance and technical support.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to travel interstate and work outside normal hours.

Responsibilities

• Carry out service activities on Makino machines and provide strong customer support in the assigned area.
• Evaluate machine failures and coordinate with HQ customer service to resolve issues.
• Investigate failures, find root causes, and provide resolutions.
• Install and commission machines; supervise related activities as needed.
• Provide prompt solutions for regional inquiries via phone, email or online.
• Prepare reports, presentations and maintain log files/databases.
• Use Makino service apps for service documentation.
• Lead projects to ensure smooth handover of machines.
• Educate customers on Makino maintenance and technical topics.
• Provide machine trainings as required.
• Update service information in the system and adhere to Quality/SOP policies.
• Cross-train on Milling and EDM machines as needed.

Job description

Carry out service activities on all Makino machines and provide good support to customers in the assigned area.

Support customer issues by evaluating machine failures with close coordination with the customer service department in HQ.

Take ownership and work independently on investigation of machine failures, find root cause through failure analysis and provide resolution.

Develop and maintain a positive and professional relationship with customers always.

Supervise and involved in machine installation and commissioning.

Deliver prompt and professional solutions for regional support team or customer inquiries via phone, email, online etc.

Must be able to do report, presentations and update of log files and databases.

Must be literate to use Makino service apps.

Handle and resolve customer complaints in a professional level.

Responsible to lead projects whenever required to ensure smooth hand over of machines.

Educate customers about Makino machines and services on maintenance, technical issues and machine tools for customer's benefits.

Provide machine trainings to customer whenever needed.

Update service information in the system while maintaining proper documentation in a timely manner. To comply with company’s Quality and Service Policies and SOPs.

Key area of job on Milling machine and able to cross over to other machine type (EDM).

Must be able to support customers in other states / regions according to project assignment.

Familiar / experienced in FANUC control system, "a81nx" and Makino machine models.

Requirements

Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronics Engineering or any related discipline.

Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience in machine servicing, maintenance and technical support.

Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Customer oriented with a proactive and positive attitude.

Must be able to work independently and collaboratively within team.

Must be able to travel interstate as required.

Must be able to work outside normal working hours when required to support operational and customer needs.

Proficiency in Mandarin will be an added advantage.
