Job summary

Job description

CNC Machinist, the main responsibility is to safely and efficiently operate CNC Milling and/or Turning machines to produce high-precision components in accordance with approved programs, engineering drawings, quality specifications and production requirements.

Job Purpose

To operate CNC machines safely and consistently, monitor machining conditions, perform in-process dimensional inspection and make permitted basic adjustments to maintain product quality and production output. The role supports Myamax Operations in achieving safety, quality, delivery, productivity and continuous-improvement objectives while escalating setup, programming or complex process issues to the CNC Machine Setter or Engineer.

JOB DESCRIPTION — DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

CNC MACHINING & PRODUCTION

• Operate CNC Milling and/or Turning machines in accordance with approved programs, work instructions, setup sheets and production requirements.
• Load and unload raw materials, workpieces and finished components safely.
• Start and monitor approved CNC programs and machining cycles.
• Verify correct material, tooling, fixture and program before commencing production.
• Make permitted basic tool/wear offset adjustments within defined operating limits.
• Monitor machine condition, cutting performance and abnormal machining conditions during production.
• Achieve production output and schedule requirements without compromising safety or quality.
• Follow the required production sequence and minimise avoidable machine idle time.

QUALITY & INSPECTION

• Read and understand engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances and applicable work instructions.
• Perform in-process and final self-inspection of machined components.
• Use Vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, Trimos and other applicable measuring equipment.
• Record inspection results accurately in the required quality/production documentation.
• Identify dimensional variation or non-conforming parts and stop/escalate the process where required.
• Maintain segregation and control of non-conforming components in accordance with procedures.

MACHINE & PROCESS MONITORING

• Monitor tool wear, surface finish, dimensional trends, unusual noise, vibration and other signs of machining instability.
• Perform basic checks and adjustments within authorised limits.
• Escalate machine setup, tooling, programming, fixture, dimensional or process problems to the CNC Machine Setter, Engineer or Supervisor.
• Support troubleshooting activities by providing accurate information on machine condition, process history and inspection results.
• Perform basic operator-level machine care and pre-start safety checks in accordance with Myamax procedures.

PRODUCTIVITY & CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

• Minimise avoidable machining interruptions and machine idle time.
• Support achievement of cycle-time, output, quality and delivery targets.
• Identify and communicate opportunities to improve machining efficiency, workplace organisation, safety and quality.
• Participate in improvement, scrap/rework reduction and problem-solving activities when required.
• Support production ramp-up and changing production priorities according to business requirements.

• Maintain accurate production, inspection and other required records.
• Follow standard operating procedures, work instructions and shop-floor discipline.
• Maintain 5S, machine cleanliness and an organised work area.
• Comply with machine safety requirements, PPE rules and all applicable Myamax safety procedures.
• Work collaboratively with Setters, Production, Quality, Engineering and other team members.
• Participate in training and skills development to progress toward higher machining competency where applicable.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Qualification:

SPM, SKM Level 2/3, Certificate or Diploma in Precision Machining, Mechanical / Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent technical qualification. Candidates with relevant hands-on CNC machining experience may also be considered.

Experience:

Normally 1–3 years of CNC machining / machine-shop experience. Fresh SKM / technical graduates with strong practical CNC exposure may be considered for entry-level development.

Special Requirements:

Essential:

• Familiar with CNC Milling and/or Turning machine operation
• Able to read basic engineering drawings, dimensions and tolerances
• Able to use precision measuring instruments
• Understand basic tooling, offsets and machine-shop practices
• Able to follow work instructions, safety requirements and production discipline
• Willing to work the applicable Myamax Operations shift arrangement, including 12-hour shifts where required

Preferred:

• FANUC or equivalent CNC controller exposure
• Basic G-code / M-code understanding
• Experience in precision machining / manufacturing
• Basic GD&T knowledge
