Job summary

SAM Engineering & Equipment (M) Bhd in Malaysia is seeking a skilled Project Engineer to plan and manage assigned projects, ensuring quality, on-time delivery and cost objectives. You will liaise with customers and vendors, guide a small team, and drive continuous improvement both on-site and in processes.

The role emphasizes field service coordination, training, safety, and effective communication with stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.

Job description

To ensure all assigned projects/jobs are carried out smoothly and completing within the allocated time frame efficiently and effectively.

Be creative and proactive contributor on the Assembly & Field service team, focused on continuous improvement

Roles And Responsibilities :

1.1 Responsible for planning and managing the assigned project.

1.2 Responsible for coordinating the project to ensure Quality, OTD & Cost objectives are met.

1.3 To liaise with customers/vendors respective to the assigned projects.

1.4 Report on project progress to the immediate superior.

1.5 Responsible for quality control on parts received, work in process and finished tools.

1.6 Responsible for assembly cost, including material, people (sub-contractor) & layout.

1.7 Responsible to keep documents up-to-date, including but not limited to Assembly Checklist on a continuous basis.

1.8 To provide technical feedback on assembly issues to concern parties requesting for such information.

1.9 Purchase materials for the assigned project when necessary.

1.10 Responsible to achieve departmental goal by working closely with immediate superior in the planning and implementing of delivery, quality and cost objectives of , including continuous improvement activities.

1.11 Continuously ensure the development of his / her subordinates, including coaching, counseling, training, mentoring, among others, to ensure the maintenance and improvement of the performance management systems.

1.12 To setup a training and development programs for all his subordinates/sub-contractor. To guide and supervise them in performing day-to-day works effectively.

1.13 To ensure a visual workplace management, using tools like 5S to ensure an efficient and hazard free environment. To ensure observance of the company safety rules and regulations at all times.

2. Filed Service and Escalation Management.

2.1 Built customer rapport by meeting commitments and expectations of customers and end users.

2.2 To execute equipment support tasks assigned as per project requirements or as assigned by Production and Service Manager

2.3 To have constant documented feedback on services rendered at customer site back to Production and Service Manager by means of field service reports or e-mail.

2.4 To participate in project and user group meetings to ensure success of equipment commissioning.

2.5 To provide 24-hour equipment support based on call escalations on assigned projects either at customer sites or at factory, applicable for customer’s with service contracts e.g. Intel

2.6 To be the communication interface between assembly, field service, design, quality and customers.

2.7 To participate in continuos improvement projects to meet or exceed equipment specifications via statistical data analysis or problem solving tools.

2.8 To minimize equipment downtime of tools at customer sites by providing impromptu or training to the end users to develop their self support capability.

2.9 To assist Production and Field Service Manager in marketing for new business/ service contracts for the business, if any.

2.10 To verify consolidate field complaints (on site) & drive for continues improvement.

2.11 Delivery, assembly, testing and data collection of parts or modules at customer's site.

3.1 To execute and complete installation tasks of newly commissioned tool.

3.2 To facilitate and coordinate equipment buyoff by customers at site via prepared Test Plans/ BKM

3.3 To provide official or unofficial training to end-users.

3.4 To assist in the closure of Equipment Acceptance Checklist.

4.1 Providing technical solutions and design ideas for prototype equipment to work with customer's process during equipment validation at site.

4.2 o be part of the project initiation team, defining (as a team) the Test Plans /Buy off requirements for a project

4.3 To be part of the Design Review team.

5. Training

5.2 To inform Engineering department on newly incorporated methods or BKM so that documentation can be updated.

6. Contribute towards achieving management and individual objectives.

7. Perform any ad hoc tasks assigned by the superior.

Requirements

EDUCATION BACKGROUND :

Diploma / Degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Mechatronics or equivalent with at least 5 years of working experience in the related field.

EXPERIENCE:

Basic knowledge of understanding of engineering drawings or electrical schematic diagram, technical knowledge with basic parts inspection, modules assembly & critical alignment. Able to lead and manage a small group of people on project basis. Good in project management skill, work independently, self-initiative and self-motivate, good personality and reliable personal.
