Job summary

Kuehne + Nagel (SGMY) in Malaysia is seeking a skilled Customs Operations Specialist to join our Road Logistics team. You will handle end-to-end customs activities, ensure timely clearance, and work with internal and external stakeholders to uphold compliance and service levels.

We value a candidate with 2–3 years of customs operations experience, strong knowledge of tariff classification, and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Submit customs declarations and related activities for timely clearance.
• Perform end-to-end customs tasks: document checks, data entry, and inspections.
• Oversee loading/unloading and coordinate with survey authorities.
• Respond to customs inquiries and resolve tariff code disputes.
• Develop SOPs and identify business risks; provide trainings.

Job description

As a member of the Freight Forwarding team Kuehne+Nagel, you will play a key role in transporting goods, optimising processes, and fulfilling our customers' promises. And by transporting medicines, toys and important machine parts, you are not only delivering goods, you are making small and big moments possible for people all around the world. You will be part of our Road Logistics team, adding your customs expertise + skills to the delivery of customer + operational excellence.
You will be responsible for the smooth + compliant operations of all customs-related activities while keeping abreast of updated customs related regulations. You will do this by working with a variety of internal + external stakeholders while focusing on the following key objectives.

How you create impact

• To submit customs declaration form(s) + complete related activities as required by the government, facilitating timely clearance of all shipments.
• To perform end-to-end customs activities, including but not limited to checking of documents, entering data in relevant systems, inspections of goods, clearance + third-party documents.
• To oversee loading + unloading activities, expedite any defects to relevant parties + follow up with necessary surveys.
• To respond to customs-related inquiries + resolve disputes, including tariff codes between customers + regulatory officers.
• To create standard operating procedures, identify business risks + provide trainings whenever required.
• To attend to customs examinations + ensure relevant certifications are valid.
• To monitor day-to-day performance of customs-related suppliers.
• To arrange for product re-classification with customs ruling department if required.

Work arrangement 2 shifts - 7 Days a Week (Monday – Sunday) - Shift changes every 1 month
Shift 1: 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Shift 2: 3:30 PM – 11:00 PM

What we would like you to bring

Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Business, or a related field.

Minimum 2–3 years of experience in customs operations, freight forwarding, or logistics environment.

Sound knowledge of customs procedures, tariff classification, import/export regulations, and trade compliance requirements.

Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced operational environment.
