Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Development Manager with strong expertise in logistics project tendering and business development. The successful candidate will be responsible for expanding our client portfolio, identifying and securing new business opportunities, managing the end-to-end tender process, and contributing to overall revenue growth.
This role requires a strategic and commercially driven individual with excellent negotiation and communication skills, as well as a strong understanding of logistics operations, supply chain solutions, and market dynamics.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement strategic business development plans, with a strong focus on logistics project tenders and new business acquisition.
Identify, assess, and pursue potential business opportunities through market research, networking, industry events, and proactive prospecting.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including prospective clients, business partners, and industry contacts.
Manage the complete tender lifecycle, including opportunity identification, costing, bid preparation, proposal submission, negotiations, and contract award.
Work closely with internal teams, including Operations, Finance, and Legal, to ensure accurate and commercially viable tender submissions and smooth project implementation.
Monitor industry trends, market conditions, customer requirements, and competitor activities to identify new growth opportunities and maintain a competitive advantage.
Develop and deliver persuasive presentations, business proposals, and tender pitches that are aligned with client requirements and project specifications.
Drive business growth by achieving agreed sales targets, revenue objectives, and business development KPIs.
Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction by understanding client needs and developing solutions that deliver long-term value.
Support client retention and develop existing accounts to generate repeat and additional business opportunities.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline is preferred.
5–8 years of relevant experience within the logistics industry in business development, tendering, or commercial roles.
Proven track record in business development and successfully securing logistics projects or contracts.
Strong knowledge of logistics operations, supply chain solutions, tender management, contract negotiations, and commercial processes.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence key decision-makers and stakeholders.
Strong strategic and analytical thinking skills, with the ability to interpret market data and translate insights into actionable business strategies.
Experience managing large-scale logistics projects and complex supply chain solutions will be highly advantageous.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills, particularly in costing, pricing analysis, financial modelling, and tender preparation.
Commercially astute, target-driven, and able to work independently in a fast-paced and competitive environment.
