Job summary

METHODICAL ENGINEERING SDN. BHD. in Ipoh, Perak is seeking a motivated Business Development Executive to identify new opportunities and to build strong client relationships in the engineering and industrial sectors.

You will support growth through market analysis, proposals, and coordination with management, engineering, procurement and operations teams. The role requires 1–2 years’ experience and a relevant degree. Willingness to travel for site visits is a plus.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience in business development, sales or marketing.
• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, engineering, management or related field.
• Experience in engineering, manufacturing, construction, or industrial sectors is a plus.
• Strong communication, negotiation, presentation and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Identify and develop new business opportunities, potential clients, projects and market segments.
• Build and maintain relationships with existing and prospective customers.
• Conduct market research to identify industry trends, customer requirements and competitors.
• Prepare quotations, proposals, presentations, and other BD documents.
• Follow up on enquiries, quotations, tenders, and potential projects to improve conversions.
• Collaborate with management, engineering, procurement and operations to tailor solutions.
• Attend client meetings, site visits, presentations, exhibitions, and networking events as needed.
• Maintain records of customer enquiries, sales activities and opportunities.
• Monitor BD activities, sales pipelines and progress toward targets.
• Support tender submissions, customer registrations and related documentation.
• Provide updates to management on opportunities, market developments and feedback.
• Identify opportunities to expand customer base, services and market presence.

Job description

We are seeking a motivated and results-driven Business Development Executive to join our team at METHODICAL ENGINEERING SDN. BHD. in Ipoh, Perak. This is a full-time position that will play a key role in identifying new business opportunities, developing strong client relationships, and supporting the company's continued growth within the engineering and industrial sectors.

What you'll be doing

• Identifying and developing new business opportunities, potential clients, projects, and market segments
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with existing and prospective customers
• Conducting market research to identify industry trends, customer requirements, competitors, and potential business opportunities
• Preparing quotations, proposals, presentations, and other relevant business development documents
• Following up on enquiries, quotations, tenders, and potential projects to improve conversion opportunities
• Working closely with management, engineering, procurement, and operations teams to understand customer requirements and develop suitable solutions
• Attending client meetings, site visits, presentations, exhibitions, and networking events when required
• Maintaining accurate records of customer enquiries, sales activities, project opportunities, and follow-up actions
• Monitoring business development activities, sales pipelines, and progress towards agreed targets
• Supporting tender submissions, customer registrations, and other documentation required for new business opportunities
• Providing regular updates and reports to management on business opportunities, market developments, and customer feedback
• Identifying opportunities to expand the company's customer base, services, and market presence

What we're looking for

• Minimum 1–2 years of experience in Business Development, Sales, Marketing, Account Management, or a similar role
• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering, Management, or a related field
• Experience in the engineering, manufacturing, construction, industrial, or related sectors would be an added advantage
• Strong communication, negotiation, presentation, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with customers and business partners
• Good business awareness with the ability to identify and develop new opportunities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Good written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia
• Ability to prepare professional quotations, proposals, reports, and presentations
• Self-motivated, proactive, organised, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
• Willingness to attend client meetings and site visits when required
• Possession of own transport and willingness to travel for business purposes would be an added advantage
