Job summary

United Overseas Bank (Malaysia) Bhd in Sabah (Sandakan) seeks an experienced Branch Leader to drive profitability and growth. You will steer sales across retail, SME and corporate segments, lead a high-performing team, and ensure strong governance, risk management and customer experience at the branch level.

You will develop business plans, expand market share, and foster a culture of ethical conduct and service excellence while maintaining regulatory compliance and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

• Degree in Business, Finance, Banking or related discipline.
• 8–12 years banking experience with 3–5 years in a leadership/branch role.
• Proven sales management, business development and target achievement.
• Strong leadership, coaching and staff development capabilities.
• Solid knowledge of banking products, operations, risk and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Customer-centric mindset with a passion for service.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the branch's business plan and strategy for profitability and growth.
• Drive revenue across retail, SME, and corporate segments; expand market share.
• Lead, motivate and manage the sales force to exceed targets.
• Monitor sales pipelines; implement strategies to improve productivity and conversions.
• Act as primary branch ambassador, building relationships with customers, partners and stakeholders.
• Identify and capture new business opportunities to grow the branch portfolio.
• Lead and coach a high-performing team; upskill staff to meet evolving needs.
• Foster a positive work culture with engagement and accountability.
• Balance growth with risk management; ensure regulatory compliance and audit standards.
• Promote corporate governance and ethical conduct within the branch.
• Deliver exceptional service and own the end-to-end customer journey.
• Drive customer satisfaction and continuous service quality improvement.
• Oversee branch operations for efficiency, accuracy and risk controls.
• Address audit findings and compliance gaps promptly; resolve issues.
• Support digital initiatives to enhance customer experience and efficiency; promote digital adoption.
• Facilitate digitalisation initiatives to support customers' growth journeys.
• Promote regional franchise growth through cross-border banking and FDI opportunities.
