Job summary

SF Global Express (M) Sdn Bhd is seeking a freight operations specialist in Malaysia to be the first contact for air and sea freight inquiries, providing accurate rate quotes and lead-time estimates. You will analyze customer requirements to recommend the most cost-efficient mode of transport (LCL/FCL, Door-to-Door) and translate Incoterms for clear liability and cost ownership.

Qualifications

• End-to-end air and sea freight operations experience.
• Familiar with Malaysia customs import procedures.
• 1-3 years in air/sea freight import/export.
• Proficient in Mandarin, English, and Malay.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as first contact for air and sea freight inquiries, providing rate quotes.

Job description

Serve as the first point of contact for air and sea freight inquiries, providing accurate rate quotations and lead-time estimates.

Analyze customer requirements to recommend the most cost-effective and efficient mode of transport (LCL/FCL, Door-to-Door, Port-to-Port).

Translate complex shipping terms (Incoterms) for clients to ensure clear liability and cost ownership.

2. End-to-End Shipment Management

Coordinate bookings with airlines, shipping lines, and overseas agents.

Manage the full documentation process, including Bills of Lading, Air Waybills, Commercial Invoices, and Packing Lists.

Track and trace shipments daily, providing proactive updates to customers regarding arrival times or potential delays.

Identify and resolve operational "pain points," such as customs hold-ups, space shortages, or vessel omissions.

Handle cargo claims and discrepancies (shortages/damages) by coordinating between the customer and the carrier/insurance provider.

Implement "Plan B" logistics solutions when primary routes are disrupted to ensure minimal impact on the customer’s supply chain.

Ensure all billing and invoicing are completed accurately and within the agreed credit terms.

Verify vendor invoices (carriers, hauliers, warehouse) against agreed rates to prevent overcharges.

Requirements

• Familiar with end-to-end air and sea freight operational process, Malaysia customs import regulations, application procedures and general import/export trade knowledge.
• 1-3 years of experience in Malaysia air and sea freight import/export service and operations.
• Proficient in Mandarin, English, and Malay language; familiar with logistics systems and office software.
• Strong ability to handle pressure and multitasking; adaptable to fast-paced work environment.
• Proactive and motivated, excellent communication and coordination skills, strong sense of responsibility.
• Good to have experience in cargo pickup/delivery and customs declaration requirements for Malaysia LMW/FIZ/FCZ zones.
