Job summary

WEST RIVER ENGINEERING SDN BHD in Malaysia is seeking an enthusiastic accounting professional to join our finance team. The role covers accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliation, with emphasis on accuracy and supporting documentation.

You will assist in monthly management accounts, project cost monitoring, invoicing, collections, and cash flow planning, coordinating with project and procurement teams.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Preferably at least two years of relevant accounting experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
• Fresh graduates are welcome to apply. Hiring will be determined based on qualifications and interview assessment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank records.
• Assist in preparing monthly management accounts and supporting schedules.
• Perform bank reconciliations and reconcile customer, supplier, and subcontractor accounts.
• Prepare invoices based on approved progress claims, payment certificates, and contract requirements.
• Monitor receivables, retention sums, and payment deadlines.
• Follow up on collections and resolve billing discrepancies.
• Maintain records of advances, retention releases, and final settlements.
• Verify supplier invoices against purchase orders and delivery records.
• Check subcontractor payment requests against approved claims and certificates.
• Prepare payment schedules and monitor outstanding balances.
• Assist with cash flow forecasts, staff claims, site petty cash, and payroll accounting where assigned.

Ensure transactions are accurate and supported by proper documentation.

2. Project Accounts and Cost Monitoring

Record and allocate project costs, including materials, equipment, labour, subcontractor charges, and site expenses.

Coordinate with project, quantity surveying, and procurement teams to verify expenses.

Assist with project cost reports and budget comparisons, highlighting discrepancies and potential overruns.

3. Billing and Collections

Prepare invoices based on approved progress claims, payment certificates, and contract requirements.

Monitor receivables, retention sums, and payment deadlines.

Follow up on collections and resolve billing discrepancies.

Maintain records of advances, retention releases, and final settlements.

4. Payments and Cash Flow

Verify supplier invoices against purchase orders and delivery records.

Check subcontractor payment requests against approved claims and certificates.
