Job summary

T.K. Interior Design & Decoration Sdn. Bhd. in Miri, Sarawak seeks an Account Assistant to support finance operations and maintain accurate records in a growing interior design environment.

The role covers daily transactions, reconciliations, payroll support, and preparing reports, with emphasis on accuracy and confidentiality. Some experience with interior design accounting is preferred, and a full-time, on-site position is offered.

Qualifications

• Certification or qualification in bookkeeping or accounting (e.g., AAT, ACCA Foundations) or relevant bookkeeping experience.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel for data management and analysis.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Knowledge of basic accounting principles, double-entry system, and Malaysian tax regulations.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills; able to work under deadlines.
• Clear communication and teamwork; ability to maintain confidentiality of financial information.
• Experience in interior design industry accounting or small business accounting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Record and process day-to-day financial transactions (invoices, receipts, vouchers).
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and subsidiary ledgers for accuracy.
• Assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
• Manage accounts payable/receivable and follow up on outstanding invoices.
• Assist with payroll administration and related documentation.
• Organize and file financial documents per procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Perform data entry and maintain accurate records using accounting software.
• Assist with audits and provide documentation to auditors as required.
• Support senior accountant with ad-hoc tasks and special projects.

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Account Assistant to join T.K. Interior Design & Decoration Sdn. Bhd. in our Miri, Sarawak office. This is a full-time position offering an exciting opportunity to develop your accounting career within a growing interior design and decoration company. As an Account Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our finance operations, ensuring accuracy in our financial records, and contributing to the smooth running of our accounting department. This position is essential in maintaining the financial integrity of the business and supporting informed decision-making across the organisation.

What you'll be doing

• Recording and processing day-to-day financial transactions, including invoices, receipts, and payment vouchers
• Maintaining and reconciling general ledger accounts and subsidiary ledgers to ensure accuracy
• Supporting the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and reports
• Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including payment processing and follow-up on outstanding invoices
• Assisting with payroll administration and related documentation
• Filing and organizing financial documents in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements
• Performing data entry and maintaining accurate financial records using accounting software
• Assisting with audits and providing necessary documentation to auditors as required
• Supporting the senior accountant or finance manager with ad-hoc accounting tasks and special projects

What we're looking for

• Certification or qualification in bookkeeping or accounting (such as AAT, ACCA Foundations, or equivalent Malaysian accounting qualification), or relevant experience in bookkeeping and small practice accounting
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel for data management and financial analysis
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail
