A & O Food Industries (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, Masai, Johor, invites applications for an Account Assistant to join our finance team. This full-time role supports day-to-day accounting operations and ensures accurate record-keeping in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

You will process transactions, maintain records, assist with month-end close and liaise with suppliers and internal departments. Proficiency in Excel and accounting software is required; English, Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin

Qualifications

• Qualification in accounting, book-keeping or related financial discipline or equivalent practical experience.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong numeracy with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Written and verbal communication in English, Bahasa Malaysia & Mandarin.

Responsibilities

• Process and record financial transactions including invoices, receipts and expense claims.
• Maintain accurate and organised financial records and documentation.
• Prepare reconciliations of accounts and identify discrepancies.
• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
• Support preparation of financial reports and statements.
• Perform data entry and maintain financial databases.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close procedures.
• Support audits and provide documentation as required.

About the role

We are seeking an Account Assistant to join the finance team at A & O Food Industries (M) Sdn Bhd. This is a full-time position based in Masai, Johor. In this role, you will provide essential support to the accounting department, assisting with day-to-day financial operations and ensuring accurate record-keeping. This position is fundamental to maintaining the financial integrity of our organisation and supporting the wider finance team in delivering reliable financial information.

Key responsibilities

• Processing and recording financial transactions, including invoices, receipts, and expense claims
• Maintaining accurate and organised financial records and documentation
• Preparing reconciliations of accounts and identifying discrepancies
• Assisting with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
• Supporting the preparation of financial reports and statements
• Performing data entry and maintaining financial databases
• Assisting with month-end and year-end closing procedures
• Supporting audits and providing documentation as required
• Liaising with suppliers, customers and internal departments on financial matters
• Performing general administrative duties to support the finance function

What we're looking for

• A qualification in accounting, book-keeping or a related financial discipline, or equivalent practical experience
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
• Strong numeracy skills with an ability to work with figures accurately and attention to detail
• Competent written and verbal communication skills in English, Bahasa Malaysia & Mandarin
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Familiarity with basic accounting principles and practices
• Reliability, integrity and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality
• Preferred experience in the food or manufacturing industry
• Experience with payroll processing or tax compliance would be advantageous
