Job summary

Deveno Ocean Engineering Sdn Bhd in Johor Bahru, Johor, is seeking an Account Assistant to join our Finance team on a full-time basis. The role supports accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial records and compliance.

The applicant must be fluent in three main languages, both spoken and written. As part of the finance function, you will process transactions, assist with AP/AR, and contribute to monthly reports under supervision.

Qualifications

• SPM or equivalent with a strong maths foundation.
• Accounting/finance qualification such as LCCI or equivalent.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Excel.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling financial data.

• Excellent communication and ability to work in a team.
• Basic understanding of accounting principles.

• Experience in accounting/finance is advantageous but not required.

Responsibilities

• Process and record daily financial transactions, including invoices and expenses.
• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable and data entry.
• Reconcile bank statements and ledgers for accuracy.
• Prepare documentation for audits and general filing.
• Support monthly financial reporting under supervision.
• Respond to routine accounting queries from internal/external stakeholders.
• Assist with general office administration related to finance.
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
• Perform ad hoc accounting tasks as required.

About the role

We are seeking an Account Assistant to join our Finance team in Johor Bahru, Johor. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in supporting our accounting operations and ensuring the smooth management of our financial records. The applicant must be able to communicate and written fluent in 3 main languages. As an Account Assistant, you will provide essential administrative and accounting support to our finance department, contributing to the accurate recording, processing, and reporting of financial transactions. This role is integral to maintaining the financial health and compliance of our organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Processing and recording daily financial transactions, including invoices, purchase orders, and expense claims
• Assisting with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including data entry and payment processing
• Reconciling bank statements and ledger accounts to ensure accuracy of financial records
• Preparing and maintaining documentation for audit purposes and general filing requirements
• Supporting the preparation of monthly financial reports and statements under the supervision of senior accounting staff
• Responding to routine accounting queries from internal departments and external stakeholders
• Assisting with general office administration tasks related to the finance function
• Ensuring compliance with company accounting policies and procedures
• Performing ad hoc accounting and finance-related tasks as required

What we're looking for

• Completed at least SPM or equivalent qualification, with a strong foundation in mathematics
• Relevant accounting or finance qualification, such as LCCI qualification or equivalent, or willingness to pursue such qualifications
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling financial data and records
• Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks
• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team
• Fundamental understanding of accounting principles and basic bookkeeping practices
• Reliability and a professional approach to work
• Previous experience in an accounting or finance role is advantageous but not essential for candidates demonstrating strong potential and willingness to learn
