Nu México is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to shape technical direction for multiple teams building large-scale distributed systems. You will lead design decisions, mentor engineers, and drive resilient, secure backend services while collaborating with product, design, and other engineering leaders across Latin America.

We value experience with Clojure and modern cloud-native stacks, and offer a hybrid work model in Mexico City.

Formación

• 8+ years of experience developing digital products in complex environments.
• Expertise in distributed systems, microservices, and cloud technologies.
• Track record delivering large-scale systems serving thousands or millions of users.
• Strong background in object-oriented or functional programming across multiple languages.
• Ability to lead technical initiatives across multiple teams without direct authority.
• Experience mentoring senior engineers and raising the technical bar.
• Knowledge of agile software development and CI/CD practices.
• Strong communication to identify risks and explain trade-offs to stakeholders.
• Advanced English skills.

Responsabilidades

• Work with large-scale distributed systems and understand architecture trade-offs.
• Set technical direction for multiple teams, ensuring alignment with architecture strategies.
• Drive pragmatic innovation while ensuring resilient, secure, and scalable solutions.
• Mentor engineers across teams and raise the technical bar organization-wide.
• Write, test, instrument, document, and maintain high-quality code.
• Participate in code reviews to support team growth.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering leaders to build end-to-end experiences.
• Ensure observability, performance monitoring, and robust error handling across services.
• Participate in on-call rotations and respond to incidents.
• Focus primarily on backend applications, with openness to frontend/mobile contributions.
