Job summary

Nu is a Mexico City-based digital bank seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and evolve large-scale distributed systems. You will lead technical decisions within your team, mentor colleagues, and drive resilient, secure backend solutions.

You will work with Clojure, Finagle, Kafka, Datomic, AWS, and Kubernetes to build scalable microservices while collaborating with Product, Design, and Engineering leaders across geographies and products.

Qualifications

• At least 6 years building digital products in complex environments.
• Deep expertise in distributed systems, microservices, and cloud technologies.
• Proven track record delivering large-scale systems serving thousands or millions of users.
• Strong OO or functional programming background with multi-language capability.
• Experience leading technical initiatives end-to-end within a team.
• Mentoring engineers and raising the technical bar.
• Experience with agile methodologies and CI/CD.

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve horizontally scalable microservices in Clojure using Finagle.
• Handle high-throughput jobs and inter-service communication with Kafka.
• Manage CI/CD pipelines on AWS and data storage with Datomic/DynamoDB.
• Ensure monitoring/observability with Prometheus and deployment in Kubernetes.
• Mentor engineers and participate in code reviews to raise the bar.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering leaders across geographies.
