Nubank in Mexico City is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to shape the technical direction of multiple teams and build scalable backend systems using Clojure, Finagle, Kafka, and AWS. You’ll mentor engineers, drive architecture decisions, and ensure high-quality code and observability across geographies.

The role emphasizes backend focus with opportunities to contribute to mobile and frontend work as needed, within a hybrid work model and a startup-like, autonomous team environment.

Formación

• 8+ years of experience developing digital products in complex environments.
• Deep expertise in distributed systems, microservices architecture, and cloud technologies.
• Track record of designing and delivering large-scale systems serving thousands or millions of users.
• Strong background in object-oriented or functional programming languages and multi-language work.
• Experience leading technical initiatives across multiple teams without direct authority.
• Mentoring senior engineers and raising technical standards.
• Knowledge of agile software development and CI/CD.

Responsabilidades

• Work with large-scale distributed systems and understand broad architecture and trade-offs.
• Set technical direction for multiple teams aligning with architecture strategies.
• Drive pragmatic innovation ensuring resilient, secure, scalable solutions across products/geographies.
• Mentor engineers across teams and maintain a high technical bar.
• Write, test, instrument, document, and maintain high-quality code.
• Pair and participate in code reviews to support growth of teams.
• Collaborate with Product/Design/Engineering leadership to build end-to-end experiences.
• Ensure observability, performance monitoring, and robust error handling across services.
• Participate in on-call rotations and respond to incidents.
• Focus on backend while contributing to mobile/frontend when needed.
