Job summary

Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions seeks a Sr. Platform Performance Support Engineer to enhance performance, resilience, and observability across edge, in-store, and cloud tiers. You will use AI-enabled automation to validate reliability and maintain retail-scale stability.

The role spans architecture, performance engineering, and intelligent automation in a three‑tier distributed setup, with focus on preventing outages and improving production readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field.
• 6+ years of professional experience in Software Development or L3 support roles using Java.
• Strong proficiency in Node.js.
• Proven experience in performance engineering, reliability engineering, or distributed systems architecture.
• Experience deploying services in Kubernetes-based cloud environments.
• Solid understanding of SLOs, SLIs, and non-functional validation.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement platform mechanisms that ensure transaction integrity and availability across POS terminals, store middleware, and cloud services.
• Define and validate failure-mode strategies for intermittent connectivity, tier isolation, data replay, and recovery.
• Engineer patterns to prevent cascading failures and support graceful degradation under real-world load.
• Define latency budgets and performance envelopes across all tiers.
• Build systems that measure throughput, concurrency limits, and resource saturation.
• Collaborate with development teams to eliminate bottlenecks before production.
• Develop AI-enabled systems that generate and execute performance and resilience validation.
• Integrate non-functional quality gates into CI/CD workflows.
• Evaluate timeout, retry, circuit breaker, and backoff strategies under stress.
• Architect telemetry across edge, store, and cloud tiers.
• Produce technical designs and failure-mode analyses.
• Implement and deploy platform components in Node.js and Java, with Spring/SpringBoot.
• Drive production-readiness improvements based on performance data.
