Job summary

Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions is seeking a Senior Platform Performance Support Engineer to drive reliability and performance across a three-tier architecture (edge, store, cloud). You will design mechanisms, validate failure modes, and implement AI-powered validation to ensure production-grade stability at retail scale.

The role requires 6+ years in software or L3 support, strong Java and Node.js skills, and experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud deployments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field.
• +6 years of professional experience in Software Development or L3 support roles using Java.
• Strong proficiency in Node.js.
• Proven experience in performance engineering, reliability engineering, or distributed systems architecture.
• Demonstrated experience designing systems with deterministic timeouts, retry/backoff strategies, circuit breakers, and concurrency controls.
• Experience modeling multi-tier systems (edge, middleware, cloud).
• Solid understanding of SLOs, SLIs, and non-functional validation.
• Experience deploying services in Kubernetes-based cloud environments.
• Tech stack: Java, Spring, SpringBoot, Git, Maven, Docker, MongoDB, CI/CD pipelines, experience with cloud.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement platform mechanisms ensuring transaction integrity and availability across POS terminals, store middleware, and cloud services.
• Define and validate failure-mode strategies for intermittent connectivity and tier isolation.
• Engineer patterns to prevent cascading failures and support graceful degradation under load.
• Define latency budgets and performance envelopes across all tiers.
• Build systems that measure throughput, concurrency, and resource saturation.
• Collaborate with development teams to eliminate bottlenecks before production.
• Develop AI-enabled systems that generate and execute performance and resilience validation.
• Integrate non-functional quality gates into CI/CD workflows.
• Continuously evaluate timeout, retry, circuit breaker, and backoff strategies under stress.
• Architect telemetry across edge, store, and cloud tiers.
• Produce technical designs and failure-mode analyses.
• Implement and deploy platform components in Node.js and services in Java.
• Drive production-readiness improvements based on performance data.
