Job summary

Howard Financial is hiring a Senior Accountant to own month-end close, reconciliations, and reporting for vacation rental clients. You will oversee the close cycle, mentor junior staff, and coordinate with Controllers to ensure accurate financials at property and portfolio levels.

The role requires 3–5+ years in accounting, US GAAP expertise, and strong Excel skills. 100% remote work with USD compensation and multi-client exposure. English communication is essential.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience including 1–2 years at Senior Accountant level.
• Experience in Vacation Rental, Short-Term Rental, or Property Management accounting.
• Solid working knowledge of US GAAP.
• Ownership of full month-end close, not just transactional entries.
• Experience reconciling high-volume, multi-property transaction data.
• Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills (pivot tables, lookups, reconciliation workbooks).
• Ability to work across multiple client accounts or entities.
• Professional written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Own full-cycle month-end close for vacation rental accounts, including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Reconcile owner statements, trust/escrow, and property-level revenue against data sources.
• Review and mentor junior Bookkeepers/Accountants.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements (P&L, balance sheet) at property and portfolio levels.
• Manage AP/AR cycles and vendor/owner payments via Ramp or Bill.com.
• Identify discrepancies between PMS data and the general ledger.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for client portfolios.
• Maintain documentation of procedures for the vacation rental revenue cycle.
