General Motors in Mexico City seeks a PPCO Supervisor to lead a team of Value Chain Engineers and Cost Engineers, driving material cost optimization across the organization. You will work with GM purchasing, engineering, quality, and finance to deliver actionable cost insights.

This role requires independent judgment, strong analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple estimates; travel up to 25–50% and support deployment of cost-reduction initiatives.

Formación

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in procurement, supply chain, engineering, finance, or related fields.
  • 5–10 years of project execution experience.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage ambiguity.
  • Advanced English proficiency.

Responsabilidades

  • Lead a team of Value Chain Engineers and Cost Engineers to complete and optimize part costs; confirm supplier cost reporting and build cost models.

Our work touches millions of people across the globe, and our efforts instantaneously impact General Motors’ bottom line.As a PPCO Supervisor you will be leading a team of Value Chain Engineers and Cost Engineers working alongside GM purchasing professionals on the cutting edge of technology, pushing the boundaries of efficient and effective material cost optimization, maximizing commercial opportunities. You will collaborate with Supply Base, Purchasing, Engineering, Quality, Finance, Manufacturing, and other business partners. You will do all this as part of an inclusive team, where differences and unique perspectives are embraced so you can reach your fullest potential as you pursue your career!This role involves a high level of independent judgment, initiative, creativity, and the management of multiple estimates that focus specifically on identifying accurate cost estimates as well as proposed cost reductions.Key job responsibilities:1- Lead a team of VCEs and CEs to complete and optimize part costs:Confirm supplier cost reporting through auditsBuild up cost model with the help of GM standards and experts when you need themAnalyze and compare costs for opportunities and gapsUse your analysis and available data to support buyers in the development of sourcing and negotiation strategiesAnalyze, organize, and understand large amount of dataComprehensive manufacturing process knowledge is required. An understanding of regional difference in manufacturing processesTravel to supplier facilities for enhanced costing collaboration and support of the specific engineering / purchasing team2-Lead continuous improvement and cost reduction activities. Identify waste and inefficiencies at supplier sitesConduct on-site workshops with suppliers, if needed, to develop improvement plans to address opportunities identified through performance improvement toolsMonitor/accelerate supplier implementation of resulting improvement plans to ensure savings are achieved and coordinate with the respective buyers to ensure the savings are realizedRequired Education:Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or other related areasRequired Experiences:Project Execution – 5-10 YearsComfortable working with multidisciplinary and cross-cultural team sAbility to deal optimally with ambiguity and forward-thinking environmentExperience in leading cross functional projects and teamsEnglish: AdvancedKnowledge of harness manufacturing processes, cost-reduction initiatives.Knowledge of manufacturing processes in the electrical field, cost estimation and structuring skills, communication skills and presentations with leadership.Candidates must demonstrate the following required competencies:CommunicationAnalytical ThinkingData JudgmentWorkload ManagementRelationship ManagementVendor/Supplier ManagementNegotiationPreferred Critical Skills are but not limited to:Automotive, Industrial, and/or Financial industry experienceManufacturing/Operations ExperienceCapable of interpreting market dataProblem SolvingAble to read blueprints and to understand basic engineering documentsAbility to work globally, independently, and self-directedAbility to travel at least 25% of time, including international travel (Visa is required)General Motors is committed to being a workplace that is not only free of unlawful discrimination, but one that genuinely fosters inclusion and belonging.
