General Motors in Toluca, Mexico, seeks a temporary Maintenance Supervisor to manage personnel, materials, and equipment in the foundry. The role focuses on developing teams, overseeing GMS processes, and ensuring production schedules, lean reductions, and safety practices are met.

Ideal candidates bring a relevant engineering degree, at least 1 year in maintenance, strong analytical skills, and ability to interpret pneumatic and hydraulic drawings.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related field, or relevant experience.
  • Ability to interpret pneumatic and hydraulic drawings.
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant technical experience.
  • Strong analytical skills to diagnose and resolve problems.
  • Intermediate English comprehension.
  • Experience leading and developing maintenance teams.
  • Knowledge of GMS, lean manufacturing, or related methodologies.

Responsabilidades

  • Leads Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS) processes and supports launches and pilot activities.
  • Meets or exceeds production cost schedules and maintains quality requirements.
  • Promotes safe work practices and ergonomics, health and safety objectives.
  • Mentors Group Leaders and coaches teams in lean/synchronous principles.
  • Ensures adherence to National and Local Agreements with the UAW.
  • Drives problem-solving to prevent recurrence and improve productivity.

Job Description

Temporary position for 12 months

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the effective use of personnel, material, and equipment, with knowledge of semi-permanent mold and precision sand tooling and cold box system for core processes foundry.
  • Participates in the training, developing and evaluating of hourly team members.
  • Participates in the development of highly effective teams.
  • Leads Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS) processes and serves as resource supporting launch and pilot activities in assigned areas.
  • Met or exceeds production cost schedule and maintains quality requirements.
  • Maintains awareness of quality standards, and communicates department quality goals, and leverages resources to solve quality issues.
  • Builds and maintains good working relationships with employees, union and management.
  • Understands and consistently administer the National and Local Agreements between General Motors and the United Auto Workers Union.
  • Implements and follows systems that prevent reoccurrence of known issues.
  • Promote safe work practices and achieve objectives for ergonomics, health and safety and housekeeping.
  • Motivates, trains and develops employees to effectively perform their jobs utilizing standardized methods.
  • Ensure team members receive adequate JIT (job instruction training).
  • Achieve production schedules and product requirements by applying lean manufacturing/synchronous principles with emphasis on variation reduction, control costs, and achieve productivity improvements.
  • Coach, teach, counsel and mentor Group Leaders in these responsibilities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; or relevant experience.
  • Ability to interpret pneumatic and hydraulic drawings.
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant technical experience.
  • Strong analytical skills to diagnose and resolve problems.
  • Intermediate English comprehension.
  • Experience in preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance.
  • Proven experience leading and developing maintenance teams.
  • Knowledge of GMS, global manufacturing systems, or Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
  • Availability to work rotating shifts (4x3 schedule) and availability to work on weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency with NX and Unigraphics.
  • Experience coordinating tooling‑related and engineering activities (semi‑permanent molds preferred).
