Job summary

Bluelight is seeking a Backend Developer to join our growing team. You will design, build, and maintain high-performance backend services using Elixir and the Phoenix framework, ensuring scalability and reliability across client projects.

Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to translate requirements into robust APIs (REST/GraphQL) and efficient data models in PostgreSQL. You will own features from conception to release and contribute to code reviews and testing.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional backend software development.
• Strong experience with Elixir and Phoenix.
• Experience with OTP and distributed systems.
• Designing RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL.
• Experience with PostgreSQL (Ecto).
• Excellent communication and collaboration in agile teams.

Responsibilities

• Build & Innovate: Design, build, and maintain high-performance, reusable backend systems and APIs using Elixir and the Phoenix framework.
• Collaborate: Work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to translate product requirements into well-architected services.
• Own Features: Take ownership of features from conception to launch, including crafting technical specs and ensuring a smooth release.
• Ensure Quality: Write unit and integration tests and participate in code reviews to maintain quality.
• Optimize: Identify bottlenecks, fix bugs, and improve performance, scalability, and fault tolerance.
• Stay Current: Keep up-to-date with Elixir ecosystem trends to help us innovate.
