Autoliv Safety Technology de México, S.A. de C.V. in Tijuana, MX is seeking a highly skilled controls engineer to design electrical schematics, define controls architecture, and develop PLC/HMI programs for automated and semi-automated machines.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electronics, Mechatronics, Robotics or similar).
• Master’s Degree in Engineering disciplines or MBA.
• At least 4-5 years in a similar position.
• Knowledge of vision system, PLC programming, DraftSight, Laser Markers, Servo Motors, Lean/Six Sigma, project management or reliability-related certifications.
• English 100% required (spoken, written, and reading proficiency).

Responsabilidades

• Design electrical schematics based on mechanical design, EPS, machine safety requirements and applicable manufacturing standards (MPS).
• Define controls architecture, PLC/HMI standards, machine sequence, diagnostics, interlocks, sensors, safety devices, robot, vision, motion interfaces, electrical BOM content and spare parts.
• Develop, improve and standardize PLC and HMI programs for automated and semi-automated machines.
• Configure and troubleshoot control devices such as cameras, vision systems, servo controllers, load cells, lasers, LVDT, sensors, safety devices, robotic platforms and motion systems.
• Perform TBO, SBO, BO1, BO2 and SOP Validations.
• Ensure controls checklist for machine readiness, debug and validation.
• Perform advanced machine debugging and root cause analysis for controls-related chronic failures, downtime, scrap, cycle time losses.
• Perform data analysis for downtime, alarms, cycle time monitoring, SPC, predictive.
• Ensure connectivity between PLCs, HMIs, Ignition, SQL databases, L2L and approved digital platforms for real-time monitoring and data-driven decision making.
• Standardize machine alarms, fault codes and HMI messages to enable accurate failure mode classification, automatic dispatches and actionable maintenance analytics and dashboards.
• Maintain PLC/HMI program version control, backup strategy, change tracking and recovery readiness according to approved automation asset management tools.
• Prevent unauthorized PLC/HMI changes by supporting controlled access, change detection, release practices and validated program storage.
• Collaborate with maintenance, production, quality, process engineering, AMG, suppliers and digitalization teams to ensure robust automation solutions and successful launches.
• Participation in implementation of new machines, retrofits, automation improvements and digitalization projects focused on downtime reduction, scrap reduction, cycle time improvement, HC optimization and productivity.
