Carl Zeiss Visión Manufactura de México, S. de R.L. de C.V. is seeking a hands-on Automation Engineer to design, develop, implement, and optimize industrial automation and control systems on the production floor.

The role involves programming and troubleshooting PLC and HMI systems, supporting installation and commissioning, and driving continuous improvement to boost productivity, reliability, and safety across manufacturing processes.

Formación

  • 1–3 years of professional experience in industrial automation or controls.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics Engineering or related field.
  • Strong PLC programming and troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, MATLAB, and PLC/HMI tools.
  • Ability to work on manufacturing floor and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
  • Conversational English – B1 level.

Responsabilidades

  • Design, develop, implement, and optimize automation and control systems.
  • Program, modify, troubleshoot, and optimize PLC and HMI systems.
  • Troubleshoot automation systems, electrical controls, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Support installation, integration, commissioning, validation, and start-up.
  • Develop automation solutions and continuous improvement projects.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Analyze equipment and process performance for optimization.
  • Create and maintain control logic, PLC programs, and electrical schematics.
  • Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, Manufacturing, Quality, and Operations.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and system integrators for equipment.
  • Participate in automation projects, including evaluations and implementation.
  • Provide technical training and support to maintenance and operators.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and company standards.

Descripción del empleo

  • Design, develop, implement, and optimize industrial automation and control systems to improve equipment performance, process efficiency, reliability, safety, and product quality.
  • Program, modify, troubleshoot, and optimize PLC and HMI systems, as well as sensors, actuators, drives, and other industrial automation components.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to automation systems, electrical controls, PLCs, HMIs, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Support the installation, integration, commissioning, validation, and start-up of automated equipment and control systems.
  • Develop and implement automation solutions and continuous improvement projects to increase productivity, equipment availability, and process efficiency.
  • Perform root cause analysis for automation and equipment failures and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Analyze equipment and process performance to identify opportunities for automation, optimization, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including control logic, PLC programs, HMI configurations, electrical/control schematics, and equipment specifications.
  • Coordinate and provide technical support for preventive and corrective maintenance activities related to automation and control systems.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, Manufacturing, Quality, and Operations teams to develop and implement technical solutions.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and system integrators for the specification, acquisition, installation, integration, and troubleshooting of automation equipment and components.
  • Participate in automation projects, including technical evaluations, cost estimates, implementation, commissioning, and project follow-up.
  • Provide technical training and support to maintenance personnel, operators, and end users on the operation and troubleshooting of automated systems.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety, quality, engineering, and company standards.
  • 1–3 years of professional experience in industrial automation, controls engineering, manufacturing equipment, or a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Advanced knowledge of PLC programming, HMI systems, industrial control systems, electrical controls, sensors, actuators, drives, and automation equipment.
  • Experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, HMI, PLC, and MATLAB or equivalent engineering/software tools.
  • Experience with equipment integration, commissioning, validation, and start-up is preferred.
  • Knowledge of industrial communication networks and protocols is preferred.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, suppliers, and external integrators.
  • Conversational English – B1 level.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and support technical activities on the production floor.
