Jabil in Tijuana seeks a Sr. Automation Manager to lead the design, development, implementation, and optimization of advanced automation across manufacturing and operations.

The role emphasizes cost reduction, quality improvement, and efficiency through PLCs, robotics, SCADA, MES, and related technologies, with a focus on safety and compliance. You will mentor a team, manage budgets and timelines, and partner with IT and quality teams to ensure project success.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Automation Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (Master's preferred).
• 8+ years in industrial automation, with at least 4 years in a leadership or management role.
• Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining complex automation systems (PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, robotics, motion control).
• Strong knowledge of Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus.
• Experience with MES desirable.
• Proven project management skills including budgeting, scheduling, risk management, and stakeholder communication.
• Fluent in English and Spanish; travel occasionally as needed.

Responsabilidades

• Lead and manage a team of automation engineers and technicians, providing mentorship, guidance, and performance evaluations.
• Develop and execute a comprehensive automation strategy aligned with company goals and industry best practices.
• Oversee the entire lifecycle of automation projects, from conceptualization and feasibility studies to deployment, testing, and ongoing maintenance.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction through automation technologies (e.g., robotics, PLCs, SCADA, vision systems, MES).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, IT, and quality assurance, to ensure seamless integration and successful project delivery.
• Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources, ensuring projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
• Evaluate and select automation hardware, software, and vendors, negotiating contracts and managing supplier relationships.
• Develop and implement standardized automation procedures, documentation, and training programs for operational staff.
• Stay abreast of emerging automation technologies and industry trends, recommending innovative solutions to maintain competitive advantage.
• Ensure all automation solutions comply with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.

Educación

Job Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive experience in industrial automation, with at least 4 years in a leadership or management role.
• Proven expertise in designing, implementing, and maintaining complex automation systems (PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, robotics, motion control).
• Strong knowledge of various industrial communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus).
• Experience with vision systems, data acquisition, and manufacturing execution systems (MES) is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, risk management, and stakeholder communication.
• Excellent leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and develop technical staff.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on continuous improvement.
• Proficiency in English and Spanish (both written and verbal) is required.
• Ability to travel occasionally as needed.
