Job summary

Hotel La Palma in Capri is seeking a dedicated Sommelier to join the Casa Tua dining team. You will craft wine pairings, guide guests through our wine list, and ensure impeccable service within a luxury setting.

As part of the Food & Beverage team, you will collaborate with the Wine Manager, manage stock and pricing, train staff, and build relationships with local vineyards and winemakers to refine offerings.

Qualifications

• Available to work during operational hours, including weekends.

Missions

The Sommelier’s responsibilities include recommending wine varieties to our guests, overseeing wine service, and collaborating with winemakers to refine our selection and negotiate advantageous pricing. To be considered for this role, you should have proven experience in hospitality or within a vineyard, and be available to work during operational hours. Your mission is to delight our guests by guiding them toward the perfect wine to complement their dining experience.

Profile

As part of the Food & Beverage team, the Sommelier ensures exceptional service with continuous attention to cleanliness, efficiency, accuracy, professionalism, and courtesy, making every guest feel personally valued and, whenever possible, addressed by name. The role encompasses creating and updating the wine list in coordination with the Wine Manager; recommending food and wine pairings; advising guests based on their tastes and menu choices; providing information on wine varieties and pricing; ensuring proper serving temperature and glassware; correctly storing open bottles to preserve quality; managing and fully stocking the wine cellar; training wait staff on available wines; negotiating purchase prices with vendors under the supervision of the Senior Sommelier; core competencies include proven experience as a Sommelier or similar role, strong ability to craft refined pairings, extensive knowledge of wines and their regions, familiarity with local vineyards and the winemaking process, excellent communication skills, and availability to work during operational hours, including weekends and holidays.

Advanced English is required to communicate confidently and professionally with our international guests, further developing guest-facing communication skills within a luxury hospitality environment.
