Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.

We want you as a talented Senior MAIT Mechanisms Engineer to help us in our mission by making sure that NYX Mechanisms can be manufactured and tested.

You will be successful in this role if you are able to help us:

  • Handling the setup of the MAIT Mechanisms laboratory in Turin, Italy
  • Support the sub-system testing at TEC and in partner facilities for specific tests
  • Supporting the setup of the mechanisms MAIT processes for The Exploration Company
  • Prepare, execute and manage the mechanical integration and tests of our space mechanisms
  • Be able to support other AIT activities in other facilities (Germany, France, external facilities) if needed.

Key Responsibilities

In your capacity as Senior MAIT Mechanisms Engineer, your role will be continuously evolving, but day to day your duties will include:

  • You will manage the writing of the procedures detailing the assembly and mechanical setups for tests (in Epsilon 3)
  • You will organize the EVT campaigns on mechanisms (can be internal or external)
  • You will be responsible for the execution of these operations and we expect you to lead other mechanical engineers and technicians but also to support the execution of the operations
  • You will manage the reports to be done at the end of the operations/tests
  • You will be supporting the procurement of the specific MGSE/FGSE that will have been internally designed
  • You will be supporting the Purchase of all the equipment (COTS or not) needed to run the assembling activities (Tools, generic GSE)
  • You will support the AIT Mechanical Principal Engineer to hire engineers and technicians who will support us to run these activities
  • You will be largely involved in the resolutions of anomalies happening during the integration and tests
  • You will give your feedback and report on any blockage or problem during the AIT and will work to propose improvements and fixes.

In the role of Senior MAIT Mechanisms Engineer ideally, you will have the following:

  • Engineering degree (Master or PhD) in mechanical science or equivalent
  • Experience in setting up an MAIT facility, especially with respect to mechanical aspects
  • Experience in the AIT of aerospace vehicles or subsystems
  • Organized and rigorous
  • Hands‑on approach
  • Inventive and problem solver, team spirit
