Job summary

Abbott is seeking an Area Manager to lead a multi-product sales team across the Italian regional market. You will drive growth by implementing area and commercial plans aligned with regional strategies while coaching the team to meet targets and optimize operations for profitability.

You will influence tender processes, ensure financial discipline, and report progress to the Sales Director, shaping area performance through strategic leadership and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience as area manager or similar sales leadership role.
• Knowledge of Italian (Regional) market and tender dynamics.
• Knowledge of performance evaluation metrics.
• Understanding of operations optimization and success standards.
• CRM/ERP software working knowledge.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Strong organizational and leadership skills.
• Strategic business acumen.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities.
• BSc/BA in business administration, pharma management or similar field.
• Proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel.
• Prior experience in Medical Device/ Pharmaceutical business preferred.
• Italian and English proficiency (written/oral).

Responsibilities

• Achieve growth and sales targets by managing the sales team.
• Design and implement an Area Tender plan.
• Design and implement an Area sales/commercial plan aligned with national, EMEA and corporate strategy.
• Set objectives, coach, and monitor performance of sales representatives.
• Develop and execute a Team development plan.
• Foster cross-functional collaboration and empower the sales team.
• Conduct sound financial management to keep areas profitable and within budget.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and guidelines.
• Problem-solving with actionable analysis and plans.
• Perform capability assessments and create IDPs for talent in the Sales Team.
• Report progress to the Sales Director and propose mitigation plans.
