Job summary

Mandarin Oriental, Rome is seeking a Director of Security to lead the hotel’s safety, security, and risk management strategy for guests, colleagues, and assets. Reporting to the General Manager, this role drives emergency preparedness, loss prevention, and regulatory compliance with a guest-centric, discreet luxury approach.

The position requires strategic leadership across security operations, audits, and incident management, developing strong relationships with local authorities and partners

Qualifications

• Significant leadership experience in hotel security or related security management.
• Experience leading security operations in luxury hospitality preferred.
• Strong knowledge of risk assessment, crisis response, and loss prevention.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the hotel's overall security, safety, and risk strategy.
• Lead and manage the Security team with professionalism and service excellence.
• Maintain security policies, procedures, and standards across the hotel.
• Monitor risks, threats, and vulnerabilities; implement preventive measures.
• Oversee physical security, access control, CCTV, investigations, and incident management.
• Ensure compliance with local laws, fire life safety, and company policies.
• Lead emergency response planning, evacuation, and business continuity.
• Conduct risk assessments, audits, and inspections across facilities.
• Investigate incidents and prepare detailed reports and recommendations.
• Collaborate with local authorities and external security partners.
• Support investigations and workplace security initiatives with People & Culture.
• Deliver security awareness and emergency preparedness training.
• Coordinate with operations for VIP visits and high-profile events.
• Manage budgets, resources, equipment, and vendor relationships.
• Foster a culture of safety, prevention, and continuous improvement.
