Job Purpose
The Sales Manager Direct Sales will be responsible for driving end‑customer sales of Diesel Generator Sets and integrated power solutions through a direct‑to‑customer sales model, managing the internal sales team, key accounts, and project opportunities to achieve revenue, profitability, and market share targets, in line with practices followed by leading DG set manufacturers and dealers, GOEMs.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Strategy & Direct Business Development
- Develop and implement direct sales strategies to achieve regional and national sales targets.
- Identify and develop opportunities across industrial, commercial, infrastructure, EPC, data centres, healthcare, telecom, rail, marine, oil & gas, and government segments.
- Drive direct sales of 5 to 2500 kVA DG sets, synchronised systems, hybrid solutions, AMF panels, enclosures, and balance-of-plant equipment.
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline of direct institutional and project customers.
Team Leadership & Performance Management
- Lead, coach, and manage the direct sales team, key account managers, and project sales executives.
- Define KRAs, set targets, monitor performance, and ensure disciplined CRM usage and sales governance.
- Conduct regular pipeline reviews, forecasting, and sales performance evaluations.
Key Account & Project Sales Management
- Own and grow strategic key accounts and large direct customers, including corporates, EPC contractors, PSUs, and government bodies.
- Lead high‑value negotiations, tender participation, pre‑bid meetings, and contract finalisation.
- Ensure effective bid management including technical compliance, commercial evaluation, and risk assessment.
Technical & Cross-Functional Coordination
- Ensure strong application understanding of DG sets, engines, alternators, emission norms (CPCB ) and statutory compliances.
- Coordinate closely with engineering, applications, supply chain, finance, and service teams for solution finalisation, order execution, delivery, and commissioning.
- Support customers with optimized life‑cycle cost and total cost of ownership (TCO) solutions.
Marketing & Business Expansion
- Drive direct customer engagement programs, industry events, roadshows, exhibitions, and OEM‑led marketing initiatives.
- Support product launches, upgrades, and new solution introductions in the assigned markets.
- Track competitor offerings, pricing trends, and customer feedback to refine sales strategies.
Financial Control & Governance
- Ensure achievement of revenue and margin targets through pricing discipline and discount governance.
- Own sales forecasting, budgeting, and pipeline accuracy.
- Monitor receivables, credit exposure, and collection cycles in coordination with finance teams.
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with company policies, legal requirements, tender guidelines, and ethical sales practices.
- Maintain accurate documentation and reporting for audits, reviews, and management reporting.

Qualifications & Experience
- Education: BE / BTech ( Electrical / EEE preferred); MBA (Sales/Marketing) is an advantage.
- Experience:
- 9 + years in DG set / power solutions sales
- Experience in diesel generator (Genset) sales within the ecosystem of leading OEMs such as Cummins, Kirloskar, MTU, Caterpillar (CAT), Greaves, Eicher, Escorts, Mahindra, and Ashok Leyland will be preferred.
