Job summary

A leading aerospace and defence firm in Bengaluru is seeking a Software Engineer (Level III/IV) to develop software for UAVs and autonomous systems. The role involves designing, developing, and maintaining software, as well as working closely with cross-functional teams. A Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field and strong programming skills (C++, Python) are required. Qualifications

  • 2–5+ years (Level III) / 4–8+ years (Level IV) experience in software development for robotics, UAVs, or embedded systems.
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Python.

PSYC Aerospace & Defence Industries | Bangalore, India At PSYC Aerospace & Defence Industries, we are engineering the next generation of autonomous aerial and robotic systems across defence and advanced mobility domains. Our work spans UAVs, UGVs, and intelligent robotic platforms designed for high-performance, mission-critical applications. We are seeking a Software Engineer (Level III/IV) to design, develop, and deploy software systems for unmanned platforms. This role requires strong programming skills, system-level thinking, and the ability to work across embedded, control, and autonomy stacks.

About the Role
  • Develop software for UAVs and autonomous systems including flight control, mission logic, and system integration
  • Work closely with avionics, systems, and mechanical teams
  • Contribute to building reliable, scalable, and high-performance software systems
Key Responsibilities
Software Development
  • Design, develop, and maintain software for UAV and autonomous platforms
  • Implement control logic, mission planning, and onboard system functionality
  • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code
Embedded & Systems Integration
  • Work with embedded systems and onboard computers
  • Interface with sensors, communication modules, and hardware components
  • Support integration of software with avionics and mechanical systems
Testing & Validation
  • Develop and execute software testing and validation strategies
  • Debug and resolve system-level issues across hardware and software
  • Support simulation, SITL/HITL, and real-world testing
Performance & Optimization
  • Optimize software for performance, reliability, and resource efficiency
  • Improve system robustness and fault tolerance
  • Analyze system behavior and implement enhancements
Collaboration & Execution
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams (systems, avionics, mechanical)
  • Participate in design reviews and technical discussions
  • Support rapid development and iterative deployment cycles
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical, Robotics, or related field
  • 2–5+ years (Level III) / 4–8+ years (Level IV) experience in software development for robotics, UAVs, or embedded systems
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Python, or similar
  • Experience with embedded systems, Linux-based systems, or real-time environments
  • Understanding of software architecture, debugging, and system integration
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with UAV software stacks (PX4, Ardupilot, ROS, etc.)
  • Knowledge of control systems, navigation, or autonomy algorithms
  • Familiarity with communication protocols and hardware interfaces
  • Experience with simulation environments and testing frameworks
