We are seeking a Sr. Autonomy Perception Engineer to lead the development of advanced perception systems enabling autonomous decision‑making for UAVs and robotic platforms. This role requires deep expertise in perception, sensor fusion, and real‑time autonomy systems.
About the Role
As a senior member of the autonomy team, you will:
- Lead development of perception pipelines for UAVs and autonomous systems including vision, depth sensing, and environmental understanding
- Work closely with autonomy, controls, and systems teams
- Enable robust real‑time perception for navigation, obstacle avoidance, and mission execution
Key Responsibilities
Perception System Development
- Design and develop advanced perception algorithms using cameras, LiDAR, radar, and other sensors
- Lead implementation of computer vision and multi‑sensor fusion techniques
- Build scalable pipelines for object detection, tracking, segmentation, and scene understanding
Sensor Fusion & Integration
- Integrate data from multiple sensors (camera, LiDAR, IMU, GPS)
- Develop and optimize sensor fusion algorithms for accurate environmental perception
- Ensure robust calibration, synchronization, and data consistency
Autonomy & Real-Time Systems
- Enable perception‑driven autonomy for navigation and decision‑making
- Optimize algorithms for real‑time inference and edge deployment
- Improve robustness across diverse and dynamic environments
Testing & Validation
- Lead testing of perception systems in simulation and real‑world environments
- Analyze system performance and drive improvements in accuracy and reliability
- Debug and resolve complex perception and autonomy issues
Collaboration & Leadership
- Work closely with cross‑functional teams (software, systems, embedded, controls)
- Lead technical discussions, design reviews, and architecture decisions
- Mentor junior engineers and drive best practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical, or related field
- Strong programming skills in Python, C++, or similar
- Deep understanding of computer vision, perception, and sensor fusion
- Experience with frameworks such as OpenCV, ROS, or similar
- Strong understanding of real‑time systems and autonomy pipelines
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in UAV/UAS, drones, or autonomous systems
- Expertise in deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow)
- Knowledge of SLAM, localization, and navigation systems
- Experience with LiDAR, radar, and multi‑sensor fusion systems
