Job summary

Jumbo Consultants is seeking an Assistant Manager / Senior Maintenance Engineer – PLC & Automation in Chennai. The role leads maintenance activities in an automated plant, ensuring maximum equipment uptime through preventive and breakdown maintenance, PLC troubleshooting and continuous improvement.

The candidate will manage shift manpower, plan PMs, troubleshoot Allen Bradley and Siemens PLCs, and coordinate with vendors for spares and compliance with safety standards.

Qualifications

• Diploma/BE/B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation or Mechatronics.
• Experience in maintenance of automated manufacturing plants is desirable.
• Strong PLC troubleshooting and automation support skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage shift maintenance manpower, schedules and technician activities.
• Plan and execute Preventive Maintenance and breakdown maintenance with minimal downtime.
• Troubleshoot PLC-controlled machines, SPMs, assembly stations and electrical control panels.
• Work with Allen Bradley PLCs and Siemens PLCs including related software.
• Maintain and troubleshoot laser systems, vision inspection and EOL testing equipment.
• Coordinate with vendors and manage spare parts and inventory.
• Drive RCA, Why-Why analysis, CAPA and Kaizen for downtime reduction.

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Assistant Manager / Senior Maintenance Engineer – PLC & Automation to lead maintenance activities in an automated manufacturing/assembly plant. The role will be responsible for ensuring maximum equipment uptime through preventive and breakdown maintenance, PLC troubleshooting, automation support, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage shift maintenance manpower, schedules, work allocation, and technician activities.
• Plan and execute Preventive Maintenance (PM) and breakdown maintenance with minimum downtime.
• Troubleshoot and modify PLC-controlled machines, SPMs, assembly stations, and electrical control panels.
• Hands-on experience with Allen Bradley PLCs (L16-BB, L18-ER, L24-ER) and Siemens S7-300/1200/1500, including Studio 5000, RS-Linx and TIA Portal.
• Maintain and troubleshoot laser cutting/welding, laser marking, leak testing, torquing, vision inspection and EOL testing systems.
• Experience with Keyence Vision, SIC Marking, ATEQ Leak Testers and Zebra Printers will be an advantage.
• Handle compressors, DG sets and other plant utilities.
• Conduct RCA, Why-Why analysis, CAPA, Kaizen and downtime reduction initiatives.
• Maintain breakdown records, PM plans, equipment history and technical documentation.
• Ensure compliance with safety, 5S and machine-guarding requirements.
• Coordinate with vendors and manage critical maintenance spares and inventory.
