Job summary

IMI plc is seeking a Mechanical/Electrical Engineer in Chennai to maintain high-precision CNC machines (Siemens 840D, Heidenhain, Fanuc, FAGOR) and PLC-controlled equipment. You will manage PM, analyze failures, and drive CAPA actions to maximize uptime.

The role requires C-License preference and hands-on maintenance of critical plant utilities, with focus on MTBF/MTTR, TPM, and energy conservation in a safety-conscious environment.

Qualifications

Role Overview

• Mechanical/Electrical Engineer with hands-on experience in maintenance and troubleshooting of high-precision CNC machines (SIEMENS 840D, HEIDENHAIN, FANUC, FAGOR), PLC-controlled equipment, and industrial utilities including HT/LT switchgear, generators, and compressors. Holding a C-License is preferred and will be an added advantage for ensuring electrical compliance and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform breakdown maintenance activities to ensure uninterrupted production operations.
• Execute preventive maintenance (PM) activities on time to improve equipment reliability.
• Analyse and diagnose critical equipment failures and implement effective CAPA actions.
• Ensure maximum equipment uptime and availability to support production requirements.
• Monitor, control, and improve maintenance KPIs such as MTBF and MTTR.
• Promote and sustain TPM culture across all plant equipment and processes.
• Manage and control maintenance spare parts inventory effectively.
• Carry out condition-based maintenance for generators, compressors, and EOT cranes.
• Operate and maintain HT and LT electrical switchgear systems.
• Monitor energy consumption through MIS systems and drive energy conservation initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, safety standards, and statutory requirements.

Critical Competencies for Success

• Technical Expertise in Maintenance: Strong knowledge of CNC machines, PLC-controlled equipment, HT/LT electrical systems, generators, compressors, and EOT cranes.
• Preventive & Predictive Maintenance: Expertise in planning and executing PM and condition-based maintenance activities to improve asset reliability.
• Equipment Reliability Management: Focus on maximizing equipment uptime and improving maintenance KPIs such as MTBF and MTTR.
• TPM & Continuous Improvement: Strong capability to drive TPM culture and support continuous improvement initiatives across the plant.
• Electrical C-license from Tamil Nadu electrical board is mandatorily required
• Safety & Compliance Management: Thorough understanding of safety regulations, audit requirements, and ISO 9001/ISO 14001 compliance standards.
• Utility & Infrastructure Management: Experience in maintaining critical plant utilities and ensuring uninterrupted operations.
