Job summary

Star Automation Solution is seeking an Electrical Department Lead in India to plan and coordinate electrical and automation activities for multiple projects, ensuring on-time delivery within budget and to high quality standards. Responsibilities

• Review new projects after order confirmation.
• Understand customer requirements and machine operation.
• Prepare the electrical execution plan.
• Estimate engineering hours and manpower.
• Coordinate with Design, Production, Purchase, and Sales departments.
• Prepare complete Electrical BOM including PLC, HMI, Servo Systems, VFD, Sensors, Control Panel Components, Motors, Pneumatic Components, Cables & Accessories.
• Verify technical specifications and ensure standard components are used.
• Release BOM as per project schedule.
• Verify lead times for long lead electrical components and confirm availability with Purchase and suppliers.
• Inform management immediately if any component can impact project delivery.
• Prepare and approve Power Circuit Diagram, Control Circuit Diagram, PLC I/O List, Panel Layout, Cable Schedule, Terminal Schedule, Wiring Diagram.
• Ensure drawings are released before panel fabrication.
• Support Purchase in technical clarifications and verify supplier quotations.
• Monitor panel fabrication, component mounting, wiring quality, labeling and internal testing.
• Develop PLC, HMI, Servo, and VFD programming and machine logic; conduct testing and simulation.
• Assist in machine trial, FAT, site commissioning, and customer support.
• Lead and develop the Electrical Department; allocate daily work and plan resources.
• Maintain documentation including PLC/HMI backups, electrical drawings, BOM revision history and machine parameters.
• Escalate technical or material issues impacting delivery and recommend cost/quality improvements.
• Plan and execute a department that operates via systems rather than individuals.

Objective

The Electrical Department Lead is responsible for planning, coordinating, executing, and controlling all electrical and automation activities to ensure every project is completed on time, within budget, and with the highest quality standards. The role includes technical leadership, team management, project planning, BOM preparation, vendor coordination, machine commissioning, and continuous improvement.

Roles & Responsibilities (R&R)

1. Project Planning & Execution

• Review every new project after order confirmation.
• Understand customer requirements and machine operation.
• Prepare the electrical execution plan.
• Estimate engineering hours and manpower.
• Coordinate with Design, Production, Purchase, and Sales departments.

2. Electrical BOM Preparation

Prepare complete and accurate Electrical BOM including:

• PLC
• HMI
• Servo Systems
• VFD
• Sensors
• Control Panel Components
• Motors
• Pneumatic Electrical Components
• Cables & Accessories

Responsibilities:

• Verify technical specifications.
• Ensure standard components are used.
• Release BOM as per project schedule.

3. Critical Material & Lead Time Verification (Mandatory)

Before confirming any project delivery schedule:

• Verify lead time of all long lead electrical components.
• Confirm availability with Purchase Department and supplier.
• Identify imported or special-order items.
• Inform management immediately if any component can impact project delivery.

No delivery commitment shall be confirmed without verified lead-time confirmation.

4. Electrical Drawing Preparation

Prepare and approve:

• Power Circuit Diagram
• Control Circuit Diagram
• PLC I/O List
• Panel Layout
• Cable Schedule
• Terminal Schedule
• Wiring Diagram

Ensure all drawings are released before panel fabrication.

5. Purchase Coordination

• Support Purchase in technical clarification.
• Approve alternative components.
• Verify supplier quotations.
• Monitor pending electrical materials.
• Escalate shortages immediately.

6. Panel Manufacturing

Monitor:

• Panel fabrication and quality work
• Component mounting
• Wiring quality
• Labeling
• Internal inspection and testing.

Ensure panel is ready as per project plan.

7. PLC, HMI & Automation Development

Responsible for:

• PLC Programming
• HMI Development
• Servo Programming
• VFD Programming
• Machine Logic
• Testing & Simulation

8. Machine Trial & Commissioning

Support:

• Internal Machine Trial
• FAT (Factory Acceptance Test)
• Site Commissioning
• Customer Support

Ensure smooth machine operation before dispatch.

9. Team Leadership

Lead and develop the Electrical Department.

Responsibilities:

• Daily work allocation
• Resource planning
• Technical guidance
• Performance monitoring
• Junior employee development

Conduct monthly 1 technical training for team members.

10. Documentation Control

Maintain:

• PLC Backup
• HMI Backup
• Electrical Drawings
• BOM Revision History
• Machine Parameters
• Project Documentation

Documentation must be completed before machine dispatch. And upload to server.

11. Authority

• Approve Electrical BOM before Purchase.
• Approve standard electrical components and equivalent replacements.
• Allocate work to electricians and PLC programmers.
• Stop electrical work if quality or safety standards are not met.
• Escalate any technical or material issue that may affect project delivery.
• Recommend improvements to reduce cost, improve quality, and shorten project lead time.
