Job summary

Primo Automation Systems in Chennai is seeking a Production Planning professional to prepare and control project-wise production plans and schedules for machine manufacturing projects, including end-to-end planning for 3 Cr+ projects.

You will coordinate with Design, Purchase, Stores, Production, Quality, Electrical, Assembly and Testing teams to develop timelines, MPS/MRP, monitor progress, identify delays, and ensure on-time delivery of machines against customer commitments.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in PPC / Production Planning / Project Planning.
• Experience in machine manufacturing / industrial automation / capital equipment manufacturing.
• Experience handling project-based manufacturing and 3 Cr+ projects.
• Strong knowledge of MPS, MRP, BOM, WIP, capacity planning, and production scheduling.
• Good knowledge of ERP / MRP systems and MS Excel.
• Strong coordination with Design, Purchase, Stores, Production, Quality and Project teams.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, follow-up, and communication skills.
• Ability to work under strict project delivery timelines.

Job description

Role & responsibilities

• Prepare and control project-wise production plans and schedules for machine manufacturing projects.
• Handle end-to-end production planning for 3 Cr+ machine manufacturing / automation projects.
• Develop project timelines, milestone plans, and production schedules based on customer delivery commitments.
• Coordinate with Design, Purchase, Stores, Production, Quality, Electrical, Assembly, Testing, and Dispatch teams for smooth project execution.
• Monitor project progress against the planned schedule and identify delays, bottlenecks, and critical activities.
• Prepare and maintain Master Production Schedule (MPS) and detailed production plans.
• Prepare material requirement plans (MRP) in coordination with Purchase and Stores.
• Track availability of raw materials, bought-out items, fabricated components, electrical components, and other project-specific materials.
• Follow up with Purchase and Stores to ensure materials are available as per the production requirement.
• Monitor BOM availability and material readiness before releasing jobs to production.
• Plan machine-wise and project-wise manpower and capacity requirements.
• Monitor WIP, production status, assembly progress, testing, and final completion of machines.
• Conduct regular project review meetings and share project status with management.
• Prepare daily / weekly project progress reports, production MIS, and delay reports.
• Identify critical path activities and take necessary corrective actions to achieve project milestones.
• Coordinate with Design for drawing, BOM, and engineering change requirements affecting production schedules.
• Coordinate with Quality for inspection and clearance of components and assemblies.
• Coordinate with Assembly and Electrical teams to ensure machine build and integration are completed as per schedule.
• Monitor machine testing, trial run, FAT readiness, and dispatch schedules.
• Track project-wise planned vs. actual completion and highlight deviations to management.
• Ensure on-time delivery (OTD) of machines as per committed customer schedules.
• Analyse production delays and support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Maintain proper project documentation and production planning records.
• Support management in improving production efficiency, capacity utilization, lead time, and project delivery performance.
