Job summary

AVS Lifts, a Hyderabad-based sheet metal elevator components manufacturer, is hiring a Production Manager to own the shopfloor end-to-end. You will lead operators, welders and contract labour, coordinate with sales and dispatch, and implement MES-driven workflows to ensure on-time shipments.

The role requires 3–5 years in sheet metal fabrication and 3+ years leading a 20+ person floor, with strong Excel/ERP/MES experience and Telugu/Hindi on-floor communication.

Qualifications

• 3 to 5 years in sheet metal fabrication (laser/punch cutting, CNC press brake, MIG/TIG welding)

• Reads fabrication drawings, gauges and tolerances; spots wrong bend or gauge
• Strong Excel/Google Sheets; has worked with an ERP or MES and understands data discipline
• Telugu and Hindi on the shop floor; working English for reporting

Responsibilities

ABOUT AVS LIFTS

Akrivis Vertical Solutions Pvt Ltd (AVS Lifts) manufactures sheet metal elevator components in Hyderabad: landing door frames (centre-opening and telescopic), cabin panels, car frames, motor bases and brackets for elevator companies and installers. The floor runs Amada and Salvagnini lasers, Bodor and Raytools fiber lasers, an Amada punching machine and multiple CNC press brakes.

We are a founder-run company digitising the factory with our own in-house MES. Goods-in, stock ledger and make-to-stock buffers are already live; shopfloor tracking is next. We are hiring a Production Manager to own the floor completely so the founder can focus on building the system.

THE ROLE

Own the shopfloor end to end (people, plan, material, quality, dispatch) so every order ships complete and on time, scrap comes down, and stock numbers are always right. You report directly to the founder and have full authority over the floor.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Convert incoming orders (paper order forms and Excel until the MES takes over) into daily and weekly production plans across laser, punching, bending, welding/assembly and packing.
• Track every job through the floor and raise material or capacity problems early, not on the dispatch date. Coordinate with sales on delivery commitments and with dispatch on loading.
• Maintain make-to-stock buffers: standard parts stocked, batches released on time, no overproduction.
• Manage the full shopfloor team of operators, welders, helpers and contract labour: shifts, attendance, overtime, leave, discipline and skill matrix.
• Hire, induct and train operators; build a bench so one resignation does not stop a machine.
• Set clear standards for behaviour and output and enforce them consistently. Handle grievances and day-to-day labour issues yourself.
• Track scrap and rework by order, machine and operator; find root causes (nesting, wrong gauge, bend errors, handling damage) and fix them.
• Enforce first-piece inspection and in-process dimensional checks against drawings. Manage remnant and offcut stock.
• Own daily stock accuracy for raw sheets, consumables, WIP and finished goods: reorder points, purchase requisitions raised on time, incoming material verified against PO, periodic physical counts.
• Run a preventive maintenance calendar for lasers, punch and press brakes; manage AMC and service visits; keep the floor safe and 5S-clean.
• Be the shopfloor owner of the MES: define with the founder how orders, nesting, cutting, bending, welding and dispatch flow in the system, test screens with operators, drive adoption and ensure floor data is complete and accurate.
• Report daily and weekly KPIs: on-time-in-full, scrap %, rework, machine utilisation, absenteeism, stock accuracy.

REQUIREMENTS

• 3 to 5 years in sheet metal fabrication (laser/punch cutting, CNC press brake, MIG/TIG welding), including at least 3 years leading a floor of 20+ people.
• Hands-on experience managing operators, absenteeism, contract labour and shopfloor discipline.
• Reads fabrication drawings, gauges and tolerances; can spot a wrong bend or gauge on the floor.
• Strong Excel/Google Sheets; has worked with an ERP or MES and understands data discipline.
• Telugu and Hindi for the floor, working English for reporting.
• Diploma / BE / BTech in Mechanical or Production.
• Elevator component experience (doors, car frames, brackets) is a strong plus; automotive, appliance, enclosure or furniture sheet metal is fine. Exposure to 5S, kaizen or standardized work is a plus.
