Job summary

Autoliv India in Mysore is seeking an Engineer – Production to manage the Laser Cutting and Sewing Lines in the shift, ensuring smooth operations and lean execution. You will coach 6–7 AMT leaders and a team of about 300 associates, drive problem solving, continuous improvement, and strict adherence to ISO TS 16949, ISO 14001 and OHSAS.

Key deliverables include meeting plan vs. actual, controlling scrap and productivity, maintaining safe workplaces, and sustaining 5S, TPM, Kaizen and standard

Qualifications

• 4 to 6 years of experience in Assembly Production line.
• BE / B.Tech in Mechanical / Industrial Engineering.
• Fluent English and Kannada.
• Willing to relocate to Mysore.
• Lean Manufacturing concepts exposure.
• Working knowledge of MS Office and QAD.

Responsibilities

• Work in 3 shifts on lean focused assembly (sewing) line and laser cutting.
• Manage a team of about 300 Associates in the shift.

Job Summary

Take care of Laser Cutting and Sewing Lines in the shift.

Training, Coaching and mentoring the team leaders to inculcate problem solving and Continuous Improvement Mindset.

Ensure that the production quality is meeting specification requirements and adjust process parameters accordingly.

Maintain department documents for systems like ISO TS 16949 ISO 14001, OHSAS and other production system requirements of the organization

Ensure SQDCM Deliverables are met as per timelines

Strategic Context and Challenges

Taking care of daily production activities in Cushions

Team management involving around 6-7 AMT leaders and 300 associates in the shift

Interacting, coordinating corresponding with all the departments for the smooth functioning of production

Orientation towards lean Manufacturing and involving in activities like Standards Implementation and adherence, Kaizen, 5S, TPM, Muda elimination, etc.

Tasks and Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities and Activities

• Working in 3 shifts in a lean focused assembly (sewing) line and laser cutting machine
• Manage a team of about 300 Associates in the shift
• Continuously looking for improvement opportunities in Safety, Quality, Productivity, Machine efficiency and Morale
• Planning, Interacting, coordinating corresponding with all the departments for the smooth functioning of production
• Train the Sewing and Laser Associates to the targeted levels through continuous coaching and mentoring
• Ensure that the product quality is meeting speciation requirements and adjust process parameters accordingly.
• Ensure Line productivity by ensuring production as per defined cycle time and eliminating short stops / Minor stoppage
• Ensure Built in quality in each station through operator training on quality requirements and standards
• Adherence to production targets and on time delivery
• Manage Changeovers and continuously work towards SMED
• Reduce minor stoppages of Laser cutting Machines through effective usage of Autonomous Maintenance Checklist, abnormality identification and closure
• Encourage Associates to identify abnormalities, give suggestions, report Jidoka and implement Kaizens
• Follow product specifications and quality control measures
• Root cause analysis for breakdowns (including human error) and troubleshoot problems
• Root Cause analysis for Defects (including human error) and troubleshoot problems
• Manage production documents and system documents in the shift
• Strive to achieve and sustain lean target conditions, Safe and ergonomic work environment
• Improve and Sustain 5S condition in the area
• Ensure Shift meetings as per agenda

Other Responsibilities

Involvement in Kaizen events, Improvement workshops, 5S Audits and other system Audits as per Autoliv standards

Ensure All Applicable standards viz, Safety Standards, Quality Standards, Lean Standards, TS 16949, ISO 14001 and OHSAS requirements are adhered through self-audits as per defined frequency
