Qualifications

  • Diploma/BE/BTech in Mechanical/Production/Industrial Engineering required.
  • 5-8 years of manufacturing production experience in a supervisory/managerial role preferred.
  • Strong skills in planning, shop-floor control, and productivity improvement.
  • Knowledge of BOM, drawings, ERP systems and production processes.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and execute daily, weekly and monthly production plans based on orders and deadlines.
  • Convert requirements into section-wise, machine-wise and manpower plans.
  • Achieve targets and ensure on-time completion per customer requirements.
  • Oversee raw material through finished goods and packing processes.
  • Ensure compliance with BOMs, drawings, SOPs and quality standards.
  • Review plan vs actual production and address deviations.
  • Release jobs only when inputs (materials, BOMs, tooling) are ready.

Job Summary:
  • *planning, executing and controlling the complete production operations
  • * to achieve production targets, quality standards, productivity, material efficiency and committed completion dates. The role will have direct accountability for
  • *production output, manpower productivity, machine utilization, WIP, material wastage, rejection, rework and production lead time*.

The Production Manager shall ensure that production is carried out systematically as per approved production plans, BOMs, drawings, specifications, SOPs and quality standards, with accurate and timely recording of production activities in the ERP system. Job Responsibilities:

A. Production Planning & Execution
  • a) Prepare and execute *daily, weekly and monthly production plans* based on confirmed orders and required completion dates.
  • b) Convert production requirements into section-wise, machine-wise and manpower-wise production plans.
  • c) Ensure production targets are achieved as per customer and project requirements.
  • d) Manage manufacturing operations from *raw material processing through finished door production and packing.
  • e) Ensure production is carried out according to approved BOMs, drawings, specifications, production instructions and quality standards.
  • f) Review *production plan vs. actual production* on a daily basis and identify reasons for deviations.
  • g) Take immediate corrective action wherever production is falling behind schedule.
  • h) Ensure production orders are completed according to committed production and dispatch dates.
B. Production Readiness
  • Before releasing jobs for production, ensure availability and readiness of: Approved drawings and Specifications, Correct BOM, Required raw materials, Hardware and consumables, Machines and tooling, CNC programs, where applicable, Required manpower , Quality requirements and checkpoints. Production should not be released without ensuring that the required inputs are available.
C. Shop-Floor & Manpower Management
  • Plan and control manpower deployment across production sections.
  • Allocate operators and workers according to production priorities and machine requirements.
  • Define and monitor expected production output for major machines and production sections.
  • Monitor *output per worker / man-hour* and continuously improve labour productivity.
  • Ensure supervisors and operators clearly understand daily production priorities and targets.
  • Maintain shop-floor discipline and accountability.
  • Identify skill gaps and coordinate training of supervisors, machine operators and production workers.
  • Reduce unnecessary dependency on individual operators through process standardization and training.
D. Machine Utilization & Productivity
  • Ensure optimum utilisation of production machinery.
  • Monitor *machine running time, idle time, setup time and downtime*.
  • Record and analyse major reasons for machine downtime.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance team for preventive and breakdown maintenance.
  • Ensure production planning considers available machine capacity and known constraints.
  • Identify opportunities for reducing cycle time and setup time.
  • Improve overall machine productivity without compromising quality or safety.
E. WIP & Production Flow Control
  • Monitor the movement of material through all stages of production.
  • Maintain proper control over *Work-in-Progress (WIP)*.
  • Prevent unnecessary accumulation of WIP between manufacturing processes.
  • Identify jobs that are delayed or stuck at any production stage and take corrective action.
  • Identify production bottlenecks and rebalancemachines, manpower and production priorities accordingly.
  • Ensure smooth production flow from raw material processing through final packing.
F. Material Yield & Wastage Control
  • Monitor actual material consumption against approved BOM and standard consumption.
  • Control *material wastage, scrap and abnormal consumption*.
  • Monitor material yield for key raw materials.
  • Investigate significant deviations from expected material consumption.
  • Implement corrective actions to improve material utilisation.
  • Coordinate with Stores to ensure proper issue and accountability of production materials.
G. Quality, Rejection & Rework
  • Ensure production follows approved quality standards and manufacturing processes.
  • Coordinate closely with QC for quality inspections and process control.
  • Monitor *rejection and rework quantities*.
  • Identify recurring production defects and conduct root-cause analysis.
  • Implement corrective and preventive actions together with QC and the concerned production team.
  • Reduce rework and ensure defects are detected as early as possible in the manufacturing process.
  • Ensure quality problems are not passed from one production stage to the next.
H. Coordination With Other Departments
  • Coordinate closely with: Purchase & Stores
  • Ensure timely availability of required raw materials, hardware and consumables.
  • Highlight shortages sufficiently in advance to avoid production stoppages. Quality Control
  • Maintain required product and process quality standards.
  • Analyse and reduce defects, rejection and rework. Maintenance
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance.
  • Escalate breakdowns affecting production.
  • Track downtime until machines are restored to production. Dispatch / Commercial
  • Ensure production completion is aligned with committed dispatch schedules.
  • Immediately communicate any production issue that could affect dispatch commitments.
I. ERP & Production Documentation
  • Ensure production activities are recorded correctly and on time in the company's ERP system.
  • Ensure accurate recording of: Production orders, Material consumption, WIP, Finished production, Rejection and rework , Production quantities.
  • Ensure physical production and ERP records remain aligned, Maintain proper production records and supporting documentation.
  • Work with management to improve production-related ERP processes and reporting.
J. MIS & Management Reporting
  • Prepare and submit *daily, weekly and monthly production MIS* covering, as applicable:
  • Production plan vs. actual
  • Order-wise production status, Machine-wise production & WIP
  • Manpower deployment & Labour productivity
  • Machine utilization & Machine downtime
  • Material consumption & Material wastage
  • Rejection & Rework
  • Production bottlenecks
  • Delayed orders
  • Corrective actions Significant deviations from plan should be reported together with the *reason and corrective action*, rather than only reporting the numbers.
K. Process Improvement
  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve production efficiency.
  • Drive improvements in:
  • Production output
  • Labour productivity
  • Machine utilisation
  • Material yield
  • Cycle time
  • Setup time
  • Manufacturing lead time
  • Rejection and rework
  • Production flow
  • Standardise successful manufacturing practices through SOPs and work instructions.
  • Participate in implementation of new machinery, tooling, production processes and automation.
L. 5S, Safety & Compliance
  • Implement and maintain *5S practices* throughout production areas.
  • Ensure machines and production areas are maintained in clean and organised condition.
  • Ensure compliance with plant safety requirements.
  • Ensure operators follow approved machine operating and safety procedures.
  • Maintain proper housekeeping and production discipline.
  • Ensure compliance with company SOPs and procedures.
Job Requirements:
  • Education Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech. in *Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering* or equivalent.
  • Experience 5-8 years of experience in manufacturing production, with experience in a supervisory or production-management role.
  • Preference for candidates from wooden doors, engineered doors, flush doors, furniture, plywood, modular manufacturing, woodworking or similar manufacturing industries. Essential Skills
