Qualifications

  • Knowledge of welding defects, parameters, inspection practices, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of production planning, machine operations, and shop-floor management.
  • Experience with 5S, RCA, Kaizen, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Proficient in MS Excel for production reporting and data analysis.
  • Good communication, problem-solving, leadership, and team-handling skills.
  • Willingness to work in rotational shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain daily/shift-wise production reports and data.
  • Drive Kaizen, 5S, RCA, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate with Quality, Maintenance, Stores for smooth operations.

Shift: Rotational (7:00 AM3:00 PM | 3:00 PM-11:00 PM | 11:00 PM-7:00 AM)

Role Overview

The Production Engineer will be responsible for managing day-to-day production activities, achieving production targets, optimizing machine and manpower utilization, minimizing scrap and defects, and ensuring safe and efficient shop-floor operations.

The role requires hands-on knowledge of welding processes and welding-related production activities, along with the ability to lead operators and manage shift operations effectively.

Key Responsibilities

1. Production Execution

  • Execute the daily production plan and achieve shift-wise production targets.
  • Monitor machine performance, production output, and cycle times to ensure optimum productivity.
  • Ensure smooth shift operations and timely completion of production activities.
  • Identify and resolve operational issues to minimize machine downtime and production backlogs.

2. Welding & Manufacturing Operations

  • Possess practical knowledge of welding processes, welding parameters, and welding practices.
  • Monitor welding operations and ensure adherence to defined process parameters and quality requirements.
  • Identify common welding defects and support corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with Quality and Maintenance teams to resolve welding and process-related issues.
  • Ensure proper handling and safe operation of welding equipment and related machinery.

3. Scrap & Defect Control

  • Monitor production scrap, rejection, and rework and take corrective actions to minimize losses.
  • Conduct/support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for production and quality issues.
  • Implement corrective and preventive actions to avoid recurrence of defects.
  • Maintain required production and rejection records.

4. Manpower & Shift Management

  • Allocate manpower effectively as per production requirements and machine availability.
  • Monitor operator performance and ensure optimum manpower utilization.
  • Coordinate shift activities and manage operator breaks to minimize machine idle time.
  • Identify training requirements and provide necessary guidance to operators.
  • Ensure proper shift handover covering machine status, production performance, breakdowns, and pending activities.

5. 5S, Safety & Compliance

  • Maintain and improve 5S standards across the production area.
  • Ensure 100% compliance with required PPE and safety practices on the shop floor.
  • Ensure machines, tools, and work areas are properly cleaned and maintained before shift handover.
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions, near misses, and production-related safety concerns.
  • Follow company safety procedures and work instructions.

6. Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Prepare and maintain daily/shift-wise production reports and operational data.
  • Track production output, rejection, scrap, downtime, and machine performance.
  • Identify opportunities for improving productivity, quality, and process efficiency.
  • Participate in Kaizen, 5S, Root Cause Analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate with Quality, Maintenance, Stores, and other functions for smooth production operations.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • BE/B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 1-3 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing/production environment.
  • Practical knowledge of welding processes and welding operations is preferred.
  • Knowledge of welding defects, parameters, inspection practices, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Good understanding of production planning, machine operations, and shop-floor management.
  • Strong knowledge of 5S, RCA, Kaizen, and continuous improvement practices.

Preferred Candidate Profile

Candidates with hands-on exposure to welding, fabrication, mechanical manufacturing, production machinery, and shift-based shop-floor operations will be preferred.
