Job summary

Connect Hr in Chennai is seeking a Production Manager to oversee daily manufacturing operations. You will ensure quality, productivity, cost, delivery and safety targets while leading shop-floor teams to achieve daily, weekly and monthly goals.

You will plan production based on manpower, machine capacity and material availability, monitor KPIs and MIS, and drive Lean, Kaizen and TPM initiatives. Coordination with Quality, Maintenance and Engineering is essential.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Manage daily production activities and ensure targets for quality, productivity, cost, delivery and safety.
• Plan and execute production based on manpower, machine capacity and material availability.
• Lead and guide operators and engineers to meet targets.
• Monitor performance through MIS, KPI and hourly/shift output tracking.
• Identify issues and conduct RCA, implementing corrective actions.
• Drive Lean, Kaizen, 5S, Poka-Yoke, TQM and TPM for continuous improvement.
• Improve productivity, reduce rejection, scrap, waste and cost.
• Ensure adherence to SOPs, quality standards and safety.
• Coordinate with Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, SCM to resolve issues.
• Manage manpower deployment, shift planning and skill development.
• Maintain production-related documents, reports and audit records.
• Monitor material and inventory to ensure uninterrupted production.
• Support process improvement, capacity enhancement and improvement proposals.
• Train and develop operators/apprentices and build skilled workforce.
• Participate in management reviews communicating performance and actions.

Preferred Candidate Profile

• 810+ years of experience in Production / Manufacturing Engineering.


• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering preferred; Electrical Engineering can also be considered.


• Strong experience in production planning, execution and shop-floor management.


• Experience in manpower handling, shift management and team leadership.


• Good knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, Poka-Yoke, TQM and TPM.


• Strong problem-solving and Root Cause Analysis skills.


• Experience in quality control, rejection reduction, CAPA and continuous improvement.


• Good understanding of production KPIs, MIS, capacity planning and productivity monitoring.


• Experience with SAP / ERP and MS Office, particularly Excel.


• Exposure to ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 is preferred.


• Experience in process improvement, tooling, jigs/fixtures, automation or manufacturing processes will be an advantage.


• Good communication, presentation, interpersonal and leadership skills.


• Ability to train, guide and motivate shop-floor teams.


• Experience in Japanese manufacturing environment and willingness to learn Japanese will be an added advantage.


• Candidates with extrusion / relevant manufacturing-process experience will be preferred.
