General Energy Management Systems is seeking a Procurement Engineer to plan, coordinate, and execute procurement for Civil and MEP works, ensuring timely material availability in line with project requirements, budgets, and schedules.
The role involves bid analysis, vendor prequalification, PO management, and expediting to meet site needs across pan-India operations, with emphasis on quality and cost control.
The Procurement Engineer will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing procurement activities for Civil and MEP works, ensuring timely availability of materials, equipment, and services in line with project requirements, approved specifications, budget, quality standards, and project schedules.
Help bidding team with market pricing inputs and lead times for all materials. Review bid/ project BOQ, specifications, drawings, material schedules, and procurement requirements. Prepare and maintain the Procurement Schedule / Material Procurement Plan in line with the project execution schedule. Identify long-lead and critical materials and initiate procurement well in advance. Coordinate with Engineering and Planning teams to determine material priorities and required delivery dates. Monitor material requirements against project progress and approved budgets.
Identify potential suppliers, manufacturers, subcontractors, and service providers. Obtain and evaluate vendor credentials, technical capabilities, past experience, certifications, and commercial terms. Coordinate vendor registration and prequalification in accordance with company procedures. Develop and maintain an updated approved vendor database.
Prepare Purchase Orders, Work Orders, and Service Orders based formal internal process on approved commercial terms. Ensure PO/WO clearly specifies scope, quantities, specifications, delivery schedule, quality requirements, inspection requirements, warranty, and payment terms. Obtain necessary internal approvals before releasing orders. Coordinate with vendors for acknowledgement and order confirmation.
Track procurement activities from PO placement through manufacturing, inspection, dispatch, and delivery. Follow up regularly with suppliers for timely delivery. Maintain Material Delivery Tracking / Expediting Reports. Identify procurement delays and escape critical issues to the Procurement Manager / Project Manager. Coordinate with logistics and project stores for delivery planning. Ensure materials are delivered in accordance with project schedules and site requirements.
The ideal candidate should have hands‑on experience in construction procurement, with good knowledge of Civil and MEP materials, vendor development, quotation analysis, negotiation, purchase order management, and material expediting pan India. The candidate should be capable of independently managing procurement packages while coordinating effectively with project and engineering teams to ensure materials and services are available at site on time, at the right quality and at competitive cost.
