Job summary

Qualifications

  • MBA/PGDM in HR or Master’s in HR/Personnel Management/Labour Welfare.
  • Experience in manufacturing, plant HR, contract labour, and labour law compliance.
  • Strong communication, leadership and stakeholder management abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Plan manpower based on plant operations and production needs.
  • Lead recruitment for technical, production, maintenance, and support roles.
  • Manage payroll coordination, attendance and statutory compliance.
  • Maintain HR policies, employee records and IR processes.
  • Oversee contract labour management and vendor compliance.
  • Ensure safety, EHS alignment and training programs.
  • Drive performance management and development plans.
  • Support industrial relations and negotiations when required.
  • Prepare monthly HR MIS reports and analytics.
  • Coordinate administration, transport, canteen and welfare services.
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation and statutory returns.

Job Description HR Manager / HR Head

Position: HR Manager / HR Head
Department: Human Resources & Administration
Industry: Ethanol / Distillery / Manufacturing
Location: Plant Location - Chandrapur - maharashra
Reporting To: Plant Head / Director / CHRO
Experience: 1–5 years, preferably in manufacturing, distillery, chemical, food processing, or other process industries

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and proactive HR Manager / HR Head to manage the complete human resources and administration function of an ethanol manufacturing plant. The role will be responsible for manpower planning, recruitment, employee engagement, payroll coordination, labour law compliance, industrial relations, training, performance management, and overall HR operations.

The candidate should have strong experience in handling plant HR, contract labour, statutory compliance, shift-based manpower, employee relations, and manufacturing environments.

Key Responsibilities
1. Manpower Planning & Recruitment
  • Prepare manpower plans based on plant operations, production requirements, and business growth.
  • Manage recruitment for technical, production, maintenance, quality, EHS, finance, administration, and support functions.
  • Develop relationships with recruitment agencies, ITIs, colleges, and local talent sources.
  • Ensure timely deployment of manpower for plant operations and shifts.
  • Maintain an effective talent pipeline for critical technical positions.
2. Plant HR Operations
  • Manage day-to-day HR operations at the ethanol manufacturing plant.
  • Maintain employee records, attendance, leave, shift schedules, transfers, and employee documentation.
  • Coordinate with department heads regarding manpower requirements and productivity.
  • Establish and maintain effective HR policies and procedures.
  • Handle employee grievances and disciplinary matters professionally.
3. Contract Labour Management
  • Manage contract labour and outsourced manpower deployed at the plant.
  • Coordinate with contractors regarding manpower, attendance, wages, documentation, and statutory compliance.
  • Ensure proper records and documentation of contract workers.
  • Monitor contractor compliance with applicable labour regulations and company policies.
4. Statutory & Labour Law Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with applicable labour and employment laws, including requirements relating to wages, working hours, leave, social security, contract labour, gratuity, bonus, and employee records.
  • Coordinate PF, ESIC, professional tax, labour welfare and other applicable statutory compliances.
  • Maintain statutory registers, records, notices, licences, and returns.
  • Coordinate with labour authorities, inspectors, consultants, and government departments whenever required.
  • Ensure compliance documentation is audit-ready.
5. Payroll & Attendance
  • Supervise monthly payroll processing and ensure accuracy of salary calculations.
  • Monitor attendance, overtime, shift allowances, leave, incentives, deductions, and other payroll inputs.
  • Coordinate with Finance for timely salary disbursement.
  • Resolve employee payroll and attendance-related queries.
6. Employee Relations & Industrial Relations
  • Develop positive employee relations within the plant.
  • Handle employee grievances, disciplinary issues, absenteeism, and workplace conflicts.
  • Maintain effective communication between management and employees.
  • Support management in industrial relations and negotiations where required.
  • Monitor employee turnover and identify corrective measures.
7. Training & Development
  • Identify training requirements for employees at different levels.
  • Organize induction and orientation programmes for new employees.
  • Coordinate technical, behavioural, safety, compliance, and supervisory training.
  • Develop training programmes for supervisors and plant managers.
  • Maintain training records and evaluate training effectiveness.
8. Performance Management
  • Implement and monitor the company's performance appraisal system.
  • Coordinate goal setting, performance reviews, and employee development plans.
  • Work with department heads to identify high performers and critical talent.
  • Support succession planning and career development initiatives.
9. EHS & Safety Culture
  • Work closely with the EHS/Safety department to promote a strong safety culture.
  • Ensure employees receive appropriate safety induction and periodic training.
  • Support implementation of safety policies, employee awareness programmes, and disciplinary procedures related to safety.
  • Participate in safety committees and plant-level employee engagement initiatives.
10. HR Policies & Employee Engagement
  • Develop and implement HR policies suitable for a manufacturing/plant environment.
  • Conduct employee engagement activities and welfare programmes.
  • Improve employee retention and workplace satisfaction.
  • Develop effective communication mechanisms between employees and management.
  • Promote professional and ethical workplace practices.
11. HR MIS & Reporting
  • Prepare monthly HR reports covering:
    • Headcount
    • Manpower cost
    • Attrition
    • Absenteeism
    • Overtime
    • Recruitment status
    • Contract labour
    • Training
    • Employee grievances
    • Statutory compliance
  • Provide HR analytics and manpower insights to senior management.
  • Maintain accurate HR databases and personnel records.
12. Administration
  • Supervise plant administration activities, where assigned.
  • Coordinate employee transportation, canteen, housekeeping, security, accommodation, and other employee welfare facilities.
  • Manage HR-related vendor and service-provider relationships.
  • Ensure discipline and professional standards across the plant.
Required Skills
  • Strong knowledge of plant HR and manufacturing HR practices.
  • Good understanding of Indian labour and statutory compliance requirements.
  • Experience in managing contract labour and shift-based employees.
  • Strong employee relations and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good knowledge of MS Excel, HRMS and payroll systems.
  • Ability to work independently in a plant environment.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work with senior management as well as shop-floor employees.
Educational Qualification

Essential:

  • MBA / PGDM in Human Resources
  • OR Master's degree in HR / Personnel Management / Labour Welfare
Personal Attributes

The ideal candidate should be mature, approachable, disciplined, proactive, confidential, and capable of handling a demanding plant environment. The candidate must be comfortable interacting with workers, supervisors, plant leadership, contractors, and government authorities.

Important: Experience in a manufacturing plant with 247/shift operations and a significant contract workforce will be strongly preferred.
