Job Description : Plant HR Manager
Position: Plant HR Manager

1. Job Purpose
To lead and manage all HR, employee relations, industrial relations, compliance, manpower planning, employee engagement, and administration activities at the manufacturing plant. The role will ensure availability of skilled manpower, statutory compliance, a positive employee environment, and alignment of plant HR practices with business objectives.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Plant HR Operations
- Manage complete HR operations for the plant, including recruitment, onboarding, transfers, promotions, attendance, leave and separation.
- Develop and implement plant-specific HR policies and procedures.
- Ensure effective communication between management, staff, and contract workers.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records.
- Handle employee grievances and disciplinary matters.
B. Manpower Planning & Recruitment
- Plan manpower requirements based on production schedules and business requirements.
- Recruit technical, supervisory, managerial and support personnel.
- Develop relationships with ITIs, polytechnics, colleges and local recruitment agencies.
- Ensure timely deployment of skilled contractual manpower.
C. Industrial Relations & Employee Relations
- Manage day-to-day industrial relations at the plant.
- Maintain healthy relations with sta and contractual workers.
- Handle worker grievances, disciplinary proceedings, domestic enquiries and misconduct cases.
- Prevent and resolve industrial disputes through proactive employee engagement.
- Monitor absenteeism, overtime, productivity and employee discipline.
- Handle situations involving work stoppage, protests or other employee-relations issues in coordination with Plant Head and management.
- Manage the complete contractual labour process.
- Ensure compliance by contractors regarding wages, attendance, statutory contributions and employee documentation.
- Monitor contractor performance and manpower deployment.
- Conduct periodic contractor compliance audits.
- Ensure compliance with applicable labour laws relating to contract workers.
D. Statutory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable central and state labour laws and regulations.
- Coordinate statutory inspections and correspondence with labour authorities.
- Maintain statutory registers, records, notices and returns.
- Ensure compliance relating to wages, working hours, leave, overtime, social security and employee welfare.
- Coordinate with legal/consulting teams on labour-law matters.
- Keep management updated regarding changes in labour legislation.
E. Payroll & Time Office
- Supervise attendance, shift management, leave and overtime systems.
- Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.
- Verify payroll inputs for permanent and contractual employees.
- Monitor wage costs and identify deviations from approved budgets.
- Ensure proper documentation for full & final settlements.
F. Performance Management & Talent Development
- Drive the plant appraisal and performance management process.
- Coordinate KRAs/KPIs for plant employees.
- Identify high-potential employees and succession requirements.
- Develop competency and skill matrices for critical positions.
- Coordinate training and development programs.
G. Learning & Development
- Conduct training needs analysis.
- Prepare the annual training calendar.
- Coordinate technical, behavioural, safety, compliance and supervisory training.
- Develop programs for skill enhancement of operators and workmen.
- Evaluate training effectiveness.
H. Employee Engagement & Welfare
- Drive employee engagement initiatives at the plant.
- Organize employee welfare and communication programs.
- Manage canteen, transport, medical facilities, uniforms/PPE-related welfare coordination and other employee facilities.
- Conduct employee satisfaction surveys and action plans.
- Promote a positive and respectful workplace culture.
I. HR Analytics & MIS
- Prepare monthly HR dashboards and MIS for Plant Head/Corporate HR.
- Monitor and review headcount, manpower cost, attrition, absenteeism, overtime, productivity, recruitment, training, employee grievances, contract labour, and statutory compliance to ensure effective HR operations.
3. Educational Qualication
Essential: MBA in Human Resources / Personnel Management / Labour Welfare. A qualification in Labour Laws/Industrial Relations will be an advantage.
4. Experience
10 to 15 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a manufacturing/ chemical/ pharmaceutical/ engineering plant environment, with substantial experience in:

- Contract labour management
- Labour-law compliance
