Job summary

American Express Global Business Travel seeks an experienced engineering leader to mentor a backend/Boomi team and define architecture for mid-office and Boomi Integrations. You will develop complex Java/Spring Boot services, drive roadmap plans, and design scalable microservices on AWS ROSA with PostgreSQL at scale.

What You'll Do

• Lead and mentor a team of backend/Boomi Integration engineers in delivering high-quality software solutions and define technical architecture and design patterns for the Amex GBT mid, back office and Boomi Integration systems
• Drive technical decision-making and establish development guidelines and conduct code reviews and ensure consistency to coding standards and quality guidelines
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, and customers on technical roadmap planning and design and develop complex Dell Boomi Integrations, backend services and APIs using Java and Spring Boot
• Architect and implement scalable microservices solutions for travel booking and operational workflows and optimize PostgreSQL database performance and design efficient data models
• Deploy and handle applications on AWS ROSA (Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS) platform and manage EC2 instances and implement cloud-native solutions
• Provide expert-level application support and resolve complex production issues, lead sprint planning, technical grooming and delivery estimation and develop a collaborative team environment and promote knowledge sharing
• Coordinate with multi-functional teams and manage technical dependencies , drive continuous improvement initiatives and technology adoption and participate in hiring and onboarding of new team members

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's in Technology with minimum 10 years of professional Java development and Dell Boomi Integration experience with 3+ years in technical leadership roles
• Expert-level proficiency in Java 8+ and advanced programming concepts and deep expertise in Spring Boot, Spring Framework, and enterprise Java patterns
• Advanced knowledge of PostgreSQL including performance tuning, query optimization, and database design and extensive experience with AWS cloud services, particularly ROSA (Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS) and EC2
• Proven experience in designing and implementing microservices architecture at scale and strong background in application support, production solving, and incident management
• Experience leading development teams and mentoring junior developers and excellent communication and customer management skills
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle and Agile methodologies and experience in travel industry, TMC operations, or expense management systems
• Knowledge of additional AWS services (EKS, RDS, Lambda, API Gateway, CloudFormation) and experience with event-driven architecture and messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ)
• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack) and understanding of security frameworks, compliance requirements (PCI DSS, GDPR)
• Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code and knowledge of performance testing and capacity planning and certification in AWS or Red Hat OpenShift
• Dell Boomi Integration, Java 11+, Spring Boot, Spring Security, Spring Data JPA and PostgreSQL, Redis, RESTful APIs, GraphQL , AWS ROSA, EC2, Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift , Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Maven/Gradle and Monitoring: CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana
