Job summary

Tata Communications Limited is seeking an experienced IP/MPLS/NOC engineer to monitor and manage its IP/MPLS core networks. The role requires deep knowledge of L2/L3 VPNs, BGP, and MPLS TE, with hands-on Cisco/Juniper expertise.

You will handle 24x7 surveillance, troubleshoot escalations, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive robust network solutions. Applicants should bring 8–10 years of telecom/ISP experience, CCNA/JNCIA, and a willingness to learn NMS systems.

Qualifications

• 8-10 years of experience in Telecom/ISP IP/MPLS/NOC environments.
• Experience in IP networks OM and Provisioning.
• Strong understanding of IP/MPLS L2/L3 VPNs, BGP, MPLS TE.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills for L2/L3 protocols.
• Hands-on experience on Cisco and Juniper devices.
• Experience with Mikrotik devices is preferred.
• Understanding of Metro-E and Broadband networks.
• Familiarity with Network Management Systems; willing to learn and manage NMS servers.

Responsibilities

• IP/MPLS core network surveillance across Africa and Europe in a 24x7 environment.
• IP/MPLS core network and customer services related trouble ticket handling.
• Handling customer escalations from Level-1 team and generating reports as required.
• Root cause analysis of logged trouble tickets.
• Routine checks for IP/MPLS network as per SEACOM processes and KPIs.
• Solve complex problems requiring substantial analysis of network and system performance.
• Work with cross-functional teams to define, propose, and deliver solutions.

Required Competencies

• 8-10 years of experience in a Telecom/Internet Service provider 's IP/MPLS operations' environment and/or NOC (Network Operations Centre).
• Experience in the field of IP networks OM and Provisioning
• Good understanding of IP/MPLS L2/L3 VPNs, BGP, MPLS TE
• Excellent troubleshooting skills for L2 /L3 protocols is a must.
• Extensive hands on experience on Cisco and Juniper devices associated technologies
• Good experience on Mikrotik devices.
• Good understanding of Metro-E networks and Broadband networks.
• Understanding of Network Management Systems, willingness to learn and manage NMS servers for the network.
• Hands on experience on Wireless, SDWAN and optical networks will be an added advantage

Key Responsibilities

• IP/MPLS core network surveillance across Africa and Europe where SEACOM has presence in a 24x7 environment.
• IP/MPLS core network and customer services related trouble ticket handling,
• Handling customer related escalations from Level-1 team and reports generation as and when required.
• Root cause analysis of logged trouble tickets.
• Handling routine checks for the IP/MPLS network as per laid out SEACOM support processes, procedures and KPIs.
• The engineer is expected to solve complex problems that require substantial analysis and investigation related to network and system performance.
• Ability to work independently, evaluate customer requirements and recommend solutions.
• Work with cross-functional teams to define, propose, and deliver innovative solutions.

Education Certification

• o Graduate in either Telecommunication, /Computer-Science/ Electrical Electronics Engineering or related fields
• o CCNA and JNCIA certifications a must.
• o MTCNA, CCNP and JNCIS certifications are also preferred but not a must.
